Commitment drops after red for all the age groups in Alexandria? Both boys and girls? Or just the 2005 and older teams (high school aged)? We are looking for an older age group at Alexandria and this would be helpful information as my kid would be new. |
Sorry, but if there are behavior issues in practice and lack of respect, that is on the coach. My son's coach three years ago in Alexandria was a lovely person, but he was too soft on the kids, and there were behavior issues in practices and a lack of respect. His coaches for the past two years were much less nice as people, but could keep better control. |
| Have all Alexandria offers for the older teams been extended? Or are they still working through the process? |
'05 Boys offers have gone out. |
Do you know if anyone is leaving the team? I have a very competitive player interested in joining but I read they are offering spots back to current players... |
| I am interested to hear if there will be any open spots for high school aged boys at Alexandria this year. It seems like there are several players looking to move to ASA . |
Alexandria, Arlington, and SYC 05 boys are all highly competitive. Your son would do great at any of those, and enjoy the challenge to compete for playing position, playing time. |
leaving lmvsc, yes we are looking for any serious club and alexandria fits the bill (closer than arlington as well) |

Anyone know how many teams there are for each age group?
I don’t mean how many have assigned coaches, but how many teams there will actually be?? Like does a team with coach “TBD” mean they’re hiring someone or that they don’t k ow if they have enough for a team? And are they really keeping the same number of teams in the move from 7 v 7 to 9 v 9 with the 2010s? |
|
typically a good sized club will carry 3+ teams per age group at the lower ages and then that number thins out as they age up and players drop soccer and the pool becomes smaller. Some large clubs will have 5,6,7 teams per age group crazy as that sounds.
the TBD for coach is in part due to understanding how many teams they will field. In todays COVID environment all teams are struggling to figure that out at the moment. They are unable to have traditional tryouts which impacts recruiting totals and sadly many players are opting to move on from their sport of choice as they might have been on the fence and this has pushed them to quit. So... the totals are unpredictable or at least less predictable then a typical year. Moving from small field to full field 11v11 has no impact on the number of teams assuming the club has the volumes to field competitive squads. As noted earlier, its a lot easier to field many teams at the younger groups as player volumes are great and the drop out has not occured. It has nothing to do with field size or such |
We are moving are '05 as well. It's kind of a crappy time because nobody can be 'seen'. Players have changed a lot in this age group since the Fall. Boys/puberty/amount of commitment to individual training the past year. The current way of just 'what team are you coming from' sucks for so many players, especially players that have prioritized development. We are contemplating waiting until next winter or even Spring to make any move so kid can actually get to real practices and assess what is a good fit. Current Club is doing a great job with working around Covid and even started practices a few weeks ago so with Fall season up in the air it might be the safest bet. I keep hearing a lot of 05s are moving around. 8th/9th graders. |
Many 2003s and 2004s boys are wanting to move as well. |
It will have some effect. 9v9 to 11v11, there will be a reduction. |

They’ll be plenty of spots at Alexandria. Lots of those kids are looking to move. |
