Alexandria offers - when?

For all the made-up grievances against Alexandria on this board, this is one of the two (in my opinion) real ones. They ALWAYS send out offers late (well into June), putting parents and players into a true “take it or leave it” situation.

Yep, but I think some may view the late tryouts and offers differently, including our family. They are actually providing a fall-back for people who may want to try out elsewhere by waiting until late. Why is that a problem? We are there and wish they would move it up sooner so they could recruit players more aggressively.

Wasn’t a problem for us; we already had a good situation by the time the red team coach emailed asking whether ds was coming to tryouts.

I don’t think it was a problem for them, either. Only way it would be a problem is if someone passed on offers planning on a specific Alexandria team and then didn’t get it.

I believe offers will start going out today. Keep in mind that if you were an existing player you already know you have an offer coming, so I'm guessing OP is a transfer?

If you are an existing player you know you have an offer coming but you don't know if you are moving up or staying where you are. For non-expansion years they said most people would stay where they are. My son is in an expansion year so fingers crossed for him.

So for most expansion years, you'd be looking at 2-4 spots being open to move into. During normal tryouts these would be contested by outside players as well.

However, these are not normal times so the challenge is going to be proper placement of outside players. There are bound to be some feelings hurt over some of these choices!

Moves up. I don't think it is likely he'll move down - several players on his team do not intend to come back (per their parents) - I guess anything is possible though.

Yeah, that is tough. My child has a friend who has never played travel before who is seeking a spot, and her family is very concerned about proper placement. I hope things work out the way she hopes!

As an outsider looking in, Alexandria is a fantastic club.
