NP, but they are talking about population in this thread, right? How would it be " loading the dice to compare MoCo to just one VA jurisdiction"? |
DP. Not sure that it would be “loading the dice,” but it sounds like your beef is with the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, which sponsored the study that grouped the various jurisdictions as it did for comparative purposes. |
No, you’re confused. No one is talking about the overall populations. Look at maps on pages 24 & 25. There you will see where clusters of Jews live in geographic areas defined by the authors of the report. Within the geographic boundaries of suburban MD and suburban Va, 121,500 Jews live in NoVa and 116,700 live in MD. |
LOL. You said I'm confused, then you mentioned. ....population (Jewish population ) OK |
Yes, Jewish population. Not overall population of MoCo or some other jurisdiction. Some nitwit posted census data comparing populations of Fairfax county and MoCo to prove that Fairfax County is bigger. Overall population size is irrelevant. The population of Jews living within the geographic zones established in the report is relevant, though. This isn’t that difficult. Come on! You can’t be that dense. |
If 4% of northern Virginia is Jewish, and the population isn’t randomly scattered, and it’s clearly not, there has to be one or more middle or high school’s that are at least near 10%, Given that there are quite a few that are near 0%. |
Actually, you are the one that's dense. You need to read in context to see why something was mentioned. Contextual is critical. |
| Okay, whatever. I don’t have the patience for you. The size of the areas in terms of square miles is what matters, but the total population of counties. The larger the net you cast, the more of the Jewish population you’re going to count. I this regard, MoCo is huge, and it would not be fair to NoVa to just count one jurisdiction against it when MoCo is bigger than any of the NoVa zones in the study. |
| I am just curious as to why it is important to know were Jewish kids are going to school? |
| Extremely rare back in the day in Fairfax, when I was usually the only part Jewish kid in classes. Subjected to some vile antisemitic bullying from all kinds of students. Hope it’s changed. |
The answer, troll, is found in the original post, right? |
The 1960s? Because my high school in FCPS had a lot of Jewish kids and it was not Woodson or McLean. |
Why do you think? Because many people don't want to be the only (black, Jewish, Asian, pick your minority) around. Because they want their children to not feel like freaks. |
| Gesher, Fairfax |
It has. Read the study. The Jewish population in NoVa has grown by 80% since 2003. |
