Where do the Jewish kids go to school in No. Va.?

Anonymous
I know there is a synagogue in Reston, I doubt that all the kids who attend that synagogue attend the same schools.

Did you look at the report OP posted? NoVa now has more Jewish residents than suburban Maryland or DC, and they are younger as well.

Just strikes me as so bizarre.

You're struck in a mindset that existed 20 years ago. Times have changed. NoVa is now very, very blue, and more Jewish than MoCo.

Perhaps, but it’s probably also that, apart from the religious institutions, there’s nothing in NoVa that’s obviously Jewish culturally, the way that MoCo has multiple delis and NoVa has all the Korean, Vietnamese, and Central and South American restaurants that announce that NoVa has large Asian and Hispanic communities.

They exist in NoVa.

We go to an APS, and I don't know any Jewish kids.

MY DH is from NY, and he loves these places. Not Jewish.

There are at least two synagogues in Reston.

I am not Jewish but live in a neighborhood that feeds into Woodson. I have so many Jewish neighbors that I am pretty much in the minority.

Montgomery County still is way more Jewish. Nova has more families that are interfaith, although Rodef at least years ago discouraged families from raising kids is more than one faith.

Also, Chutpah is not a great Jewish Deli. Mediocre at best. I thought Celebrity Deli I Falls Church was pretty good, but not sure if it still exists.

So then you're saying that the stats in the study that OP posted are wrong?

There are fewer whites in MoCo so maybe the Jewish population stands out more. The data is quite clear there are now more Jews in NoVa.

There’s a small seeming temple in Arlington. But I only know a few Jewish people in Arlington. And they are all from interfaith marriages.

NOVA being so generic, it really lacks any identity.

And MoCo has an identity???

Don’t bother. MoCo has been declining for many decades and it’s been hard for some of them to accept.

You are not going to find any middle or high school where Jewish people are anywhere near 10 percent. It's possible an ES like Mantua might have 10 percent Jewish people. We live within walking distance of both a conservative and orthodox synagogue and our ES (Wakefield Forest) is probably 5 percent Jewish at the most.
