So you immediately wash your clothes as soon as you take them off? It's just gross to leave dirty clothes anywhere for any length of time. The things that make them dirty are ALIVE, for goodness sakes!! |
Lol On top of the fridge In the fireplace Behind the water heater Temporary awning In the dog bed |
No, but I don't wait until the next time someone visits or I work up the strength to open the washer lid, stuff them in, pop in a laundry pod and hit "Start." |
I don't think anyone is suggesting to set the sheets aside until the next guest comes to town, but getting all worked up about THINGS IN DIRTY SHEETS BEING ALIVE THEY MUST BE WASHED IMMEDIATELY is pretty damn funny. Having them sit until you get to them in a day or three (just like clothes!) is perfectly reasonable. |
this. when i visit, i always strip the sheets and when possible, put in the host's washing machine. |
Jesus op, unclench |
| Dude, just get a second set of sheets. Problem solved.. |
| When guests leave, I strip the bed and remake it without the sheets. Then, I wash, dry, fold, and put away the sheets. When guests come visit, I go to my linen closet, select some sheets, and put them on the bed. When the guests leave, I repeat the process. |
No, because the first set would still be dirty!!! This thread is killing me
|
I don't see why you wouldn't wash them immediately. It's a full load. Get it done. |
| Are sheets in the linen closet *fresh*? I need to know. Do you have to rotate stock like canned goods? If they are not fresh, why does glade sell linen closet scents? |

I strip the sheets immediately, wash them, fold and put them away in the linen closet then put them back on the bed when the next guest visits. I think it's crazy that you would even consider washing them a 2nd time when they are already clean and have just been in a linen closet?
If you're worried about dust on the bare guest bed mattress (which I wouldn't be because that's crazy, too, unless you go years in between guests), just beat the mattress and dust/vacuum the guest room before putting the sheets back on the bed. If you are so bothered by the fact that your guest stripped the sheets, which in your mind is "forcing" you to launder them immediately (when you could just throw them back on the guest bed until you're ready to do laundry--and I literally mean throw them not actually put them back on the guest bed), then you probably should just not have guests at all. Or make a little sign to hang over the guest bed reminding them not to strip the sheets or whatever. |
| Always ask if the host wants you to strip the bed. And then do what they say. My MIL strips it even when I say, no please don't. My cleaning people wash the sheets and make the guest bed so it's really a pain to have the sheets piled up at the bottom of the stairs. I have to carry them back upstairs until the cleaners come. |
Yeah, I wouldn't use scented products on guest bed linens. Many people have sensitivities to those smells. I have asthma (but my hosts probably don't know because I don't bring it up much), and sleeping with scented sheets like that makes me wheeze. |
