I know plenty of women, myself included, who aren’t hot and wealthy and still won’t ‘keep a man.’ It’s not because we can’t, it’s because we won’t eat the shit. Sorry ladies but we all know that almost all men are one kind of jerk or another - from d-bag cheater/liar to insensitive selfish grown sized child.

When you’re younger and your hormones are in the mix you feel the drive to find one, and keep hoping to find a good one. As you get older and you’ve got less of that reproductive drive, the patience for the boy crap wears ever thinner. Some women claim to have found a really good one but in my half century of observation, most of those women are just more willing to eat the shit and they even engage in elaborate self delusion about the shit being present or even that it’s shit.

The key statistic that supports my assertion? The much lower rate of divorced and widowed women in midlife and beyond who bother to remarry. It’s not because men aren’t looking for them - they’ve just BTDT, got the tshirt, did the laundry and cooking and made all the other compromises and don’t want that crap no more.

J-Lo has the same lack of tolerance for crap AND a personal fortune. She may persist in the delusion that a good one is out there so she keeps trying, but reality keeps presenting itself. I totally respect her for not settling.

I agree. I've always felt this way. But this has translated into me not being in relationships. JLo is ALWAYS in a relationship. She's been married or engaged about six times. I love JLo but she is incapable of being alone. She's dated one loser after another. Women who feel the way you're describing stay away from men, unless they meet someone great. They don't bother with people like Ben Affleck and ARod. JLo is the opposite of the kind of woman you're talking about. She's a pick-me who has bad taste, that's all.

She’s a poor picker. Of course A-Rod is going to cheat! He’s been with hookers, is a drug user and has cheated on every woman he’s been with. He’s tried to clean up his image, but the best predictor of how someone will act in the future is to look at their past. Ben Affleck was also a horrible choice- he’s a train wreck. There was no way she was going to have a lasting relationship with someone who is one of her backup dancers and almost 20 years younger. She chooses damaged, inappropriate men.
