Wow.... 2424 Evarts would require a ton of work. Can it get done in time?

+1 on the suggestion not to stress.

Re internet sleuthing, here's a listing I found easily for 2424 Evarts St NE.
"Description
Price just lowered from $5.5m. Large, 2 story warehouse in very good condition, containing office space and work areas, as well as large, open space with 4 garage bays on 2 levels, 12 foot ceilings throughout. Zoned LO/C-M-1, full environmental reports available. Ideal building for a DC charter school.

Evarts Street has excellent access to New York Ave, South Dakota Avenue, and Rhode Island Avenue, for easy access downtown and points north, east and south."

Good sleuthing. Looks to be definitely the site, matches the size, street, etc. I do love real estate agents- "Ideal building for a DC Charter school". Riiiight.

It's smart by Lee to put out that request in the DC Register, they have to do it that way by law, this way they are ready to pick someone and get going if things fall through on options 1 and 2.

8th and Varnum NE

"Additionally, DC PCSB staff will work with the landlord of the school’s building to identify a quality public charter school that can assume the lease for the facility, and ensure that quality education services are available at that location for students."

That would be excellent.

Internet sleuths, love the saying any chance of locating this building?

Umm, the location is in the post: 8th and Varnum NE. it's just off of Taylor Street, just under a mile north of the Brookland metro station.

There is also a school building at the intersection of Edgewood and Franklin NE (visible from the Franklin St overpass, just north of DC Prep). This building used to house a charter and has a For Lease sign on it. The sign also says, "Educational Facility" or something of that nature on it. Definitely within a mile of the current Lee/ITS location.

I find that really depressing.

The Stone-Straw Building at 9th and Franklin is also for sale, but I can imagine it is expensive.

I haven't been inside the Potomac Prep building, but the exterior and grounds are beautiful.

It can't be Potomac Prep because Lee sent the email before Potomac Prep announced they were closing.

The revocation process was started in December 2015.

And looked to be final then because Potomac Prep was given a year long reprieve in December 2014.

Am not saying they are referring to the Potomac Prep building- it could be that one at Edgewood & Franklin. But it is certainly possible that they have been keeping an eye on it and having informal discussions with the landlord about what to do if/when Potomac Prep had their charter revoked.

That process with Potomac prep has been going on for a while. It was even mentioned in a school meeting about a year ago when the Potomac charter was first revoked, as something they'd consider. I think it's highly likely that this is the Brookland location being considered and that if this gets the go ahead the move will take place for 2016-17 instead of staying at Shaed. Thanks PP for finding this.

This is a fantastic building in a very nice location. Increases my commute, so not my ideal location, but it would be a VERY nice place for permanent home.

I really, really hope so. The basement of ITS is not ideal - it's fine but not ideal.
