Lee Montessori locations: at the open house they said Brookland or Woodridge

And if it does happen above board, people like you are going to think it was sneaky. I would say if Lee, KIPP, Friendship or whomever else (if anyone) gets the property for SY 16-17 is able to announce it before the March 1 lottery deadline.

Everything in this thread is pure speculation.

Can anyone confirm that Friendship and Kipp are looking for buildings? I thought they already had some great buildings. Not sure why mentioned here repeatedly.

Above aboard is always above board.

I don't think it's ever been said. However, it will be the priority of the charter board to have an existing school come in and take care of the children that are now without a school. History says schools like KIPP and Friendship are ones of few that can actually come in and do something like that.

That history isn't being followed this time - per the DCPCSB press statement.

DCPCSB is providing 'enrollment specialists' to the school community to assist with lottery and/or transfers to IB schools.

DCPCSB said they would work with the landlord to find a school to take over the lease.

I think Friendship and Kipp came to mind because they are the largest charter schools in the city and can probably both afford the lease/fill the seats most quickly. But it is all speculation.

Both KIPP and Friendship already have great buildings. I think they are mentioned repeatedly because they have the capacity to take on additional buildings and additional students. Both have also taken on closing schools and kept the existing students with the buildings acquired. Has anyone seen anything from PCSB or from either KIPP or Friendship that suggests these two groups want the Potomac building?

Has Lee said where they will be next year for sure? It's getting close to go time on the lottery!

Lee will be in the same location next year, in the basement.

NP but then the school came back a few weeks ago and said there may be issues with permits etc and they were working on back up just in case. That I'd not "confirmed".

No - very recently they said there were some permitting issues they were confident would be resolved BUT they also said they were working on a couple backups in case the permits didn't happen.

Right, but it's confirmed. It's as certain as it possibly can be where construction is involved. Having back-ups doesn't change that.

I think some folks are going to hear that the permits have been obtained and the backups are no longer needed - and/or for addresses of the backup spaces.

May not be possible but easy to understand why they are anxious.
