Have you heard of Davidson College?

Not sure what Williams is but I've def heard of Davidson! Near Charlotte, NC.

Fabulous school!! (Alum here.). Used to be many people in DC hadn't heard of it, but in the past 10 years that's changed.

It is in no way "second-tier". I know people who were admitted to schools such as Boston College, Wake Forest, Bowdoin & even Swathmore (with no "hook") who did not get into Davidson.

every dude knows about davidson.

dudettes too -- and an interesting twist about Davidson's Cinderella run was that a couple of math profs created a bracket algorithm to predict upsets:

BTW, I'm a Californian and a Williams grad and I've known about Davidson since high school -- great school -- Princeton gave a big award to a Davidson alum last year.

Davidson isn't far from Charlotte, NC.

DH went there, but I hadn't heard of it before I met him. He's used to people not having heard of it. He'll bring up the Stephen Curry connetion, or he'll just say that "it's a small liberal arts college."

People with gifted kids know of it because it's an alternative to CTY.

Yes. DC native and I had heard of it back in the 80's. Great school. I did choose the typical New England liberal arts path though. Visited it with my senior. Gorgeous.

Well, there's Davidson Institute for Talent Development and Davidson Young Scholars, not related to Davidson College. Or maybe you're remembering that Davidson College is one site for Duke's TIP program, which is analogous to CTY.

I grew up in the South, and top students from my high school often looked at Davidson.

The school is a good but not quite as good as they to brag. Their graduation job placement is not nearly as impressive as others.

I'd vaguely heard of it due to basketball, but I get it mixed up with Denison in Ohio (which is also a good school). I'm from the Midwest and went to school in New England so NC schools are not at the top of my radar.

I got it mixed up with Denison, too, when I first read the OP!

I posted earlier that I was very familiar with Davidson, but I always get Denison and Dickinson mixed up.

My DC goes to Dickinson and sometimes people will say "Is that the one in North Carolina"?
