Did you like Wesleyan?

I loved Wesleyan but would prob choose Davidson over it knowing what I know now.

Interesting. What do you know now that makes you say that?

Well, this NP hates to burst the bubble here on what's been going on but coming from the west coast...we've never heard of this school. That doesn't make the school a bad school, in fact most have posted (and this this NP) its a good school. Possibly. But the truth be told, once you leave the East coast, its Davidson? What's that? Sorry.

Where on the west coast are you from? I live in the San Francisco Bay area & Davidson is quite well known among my friends & colleagues ( & this was true even before Steph Curry started playing for the Warriors ).

My niece was waitlisted. Got into Wake Forest, Wesleyan, Boston College, Middlebury, Dartmouth, Notre Dame & Swathmore. She was also waitlisted at Cornell , Williams & Vanderbilt & rejected at Princeton (which she knew was a huge reach).

Sorry, mixed up Dartmouth & Cornell above. She was waitlisted at Dartmouth & admitted to Cornell, not the other way around.

Congrats. College admissions is a crapshoot anyways.

Thanks! While I'm sure that being her aunt causes me to be more than a bit biased, she really is a great kid so I'm absolutely thrilled for her.

I grew up in NC. I have definately heard of Davidson. In fact I applied and was accepted to Davidson (ended up attending Wake Forest instead, which was largely a matter of a merit scholarship). Several of the smartest people I went to HS with graduated from Davidson. Like a lot of SLACs, it doesn't have the name recognition because it has not grad school and is tiny. But certainly a great school.

If your kid wants liberal arts, and not STEM, there are only really 2 reasons not to go: it is very tiny, and your kid wants a bigger school. And it is pretty much in the middle on nowhere (or it was last time I checked-- it's been a while), and your kid wants a more urban setting.

Davidson is an excellent liberal arts college with a unique blend of very high academic rigor as well as both sports spirit and nice students. Any suggestions for comparable schools to consider?

Watching the Warriors and Trailblazers. There's a dude sitting basically courtside in a Davidson jersey. Can't really buy that sort of advertising.

Cool. I think I saw someone else wearing a Davidson shirt courtside. Pretty cool.
