College and University Discussion
Yikes. Your colleague is probably is questioning his/her co-workers. None of you had heard of Davidson? What kind of company do you work for anyway? Ha,ha,ha. |
Well, she has a point. |
Not Earlham, that's for sure. |
| It's a very good regional liberal arts school, like pomona or colgate. |
| No, I'm from out west. |

I think it's better than Colgate. I have heard of it only because I went to a New England liberal arts college and read about tons of them when I was looking at colleges 25 years ago. |
| I told a neighbor growing up I was applying to Davidson. The neighbor, a transplant from NY and Jewish, had never heard of Davidson. He told me to go to a school people have heard of. My mom later told me I should go to Davidson for exactly that reason. |

Yes. Solid school.

No, Pomona is on par with Amherst, Williams, and Swarthmore. Davidson I would rank above Colgate. I have definitely heard of Davidson and consider it a very strong SLAC, like Carleton (in MN). I am in academia, however, so I am much more familiar with colleges than most of my friends who are in law or business. I went to Williams, and my DH who is a product of a good large state school had never heard of it. |
| Never heard of it. |
Guess you aren't too knowledgeable. What are you doing here? |
| I think I've heard of it but don't have any opinion on it- I don't know if it's a regional school, good school, where it's located, etc. |
| Yes, I have. It is a second-tier (nothing wrong with that) liberal arts college, and it is in the South. |
