hopefully you won't enter my ER at 5 30 smelling alcohol crying that your child suffered an accident while you're "watching" her/him in your playgroup.

I'm pretty sure I'll be okay. Should I worry that the cheese I bought isn't pasteurized? You really should stop being so sanctimonious, its an unpleasant characteristic that tends to repel people.

I don't smell alcohol when I have an appointment with a patient.
actually, if I drink while in charge I lose my license.

aren't YOU glad that when you enter my ER with your cranium fractured because you were driving drunk I won't be drunk to fix it?

yes, the world is made of people of all kinds.

You have a causation problem here. First, I'm hosting, thus not driving. Second, you assume that even if I was going somewhere I would be driving. Third, you assume that if someone drinks they are drunk and an alcoholic. And by the way, no one who is coming over is driving.

People on this website jump to so many conclusions. It simply isn't true that if you have alcohol at a "playdate" everyone will be wasted. It is possible to enjoy alcohol responsibly, and I firmly believe that most adults do. I don't know how anyone can assume that my one glass of wine makes me unfit to watch my seven month old sit on the floor and throw her toys around. In addition, if anyone drank to the point I was worried for their child's safety, I would certainly say something, as I think most people would.

Unbelievable to me that people think having one or two drinks in front of your child is an evil thing. If anything, you are modeling responsible drinking.

From what I read from the mothers in this website they would see a friend drunk during the playdate and come home to post WILL BE RUDE IF I TELL MY FRIEND SHE'S GETTING DRUNK DURING OUR SOCIAL ALCOHOLIC PLAYDATE?

mothers here don't even tell loud people in the library to be quiet. I don't think they'll hurt their "friends" feelings by telling they they had one drink too much.

I guess I won't be seeing most of you at Baby Loves Disco this month...Beers AND dancing, that might throw you over the edge.

As long as everyone is responsible, by way of not driving if drunk, not stuffing olives up Junior's nose for laughs, etc., I think it's fine. Not sure if it's the norm, but I think it sounds like fun!

We have iced tea, too.

Ooh ooh ooh! My husband and I are going to Babies Love Disco this month... can't wait.

And yes, I will have a drink while I'm there. Or two.

I mean, "Baby Loves Disco," not "Babies Love Disco." That Everclear I drank earlier went straight to my head.

Babies Love Disco? Sounds great, can someone tell me more?

Here's the link.

It looks like February is sold out. It is a ton of fun. Kids get to dance to great music (not kid's music) and you can stand back and socialize with other parents while enjoying a beer or a glass of wine. It is held at the Rock and Roll Hotel bar on Saturday afternoon once a month. They have free snacks sponsored by Whole Foods and other things like face painting, baloons, etc.

Is this a person or a random word generator? Maybe after I have my sun-downer this will make some kind of sense.

I love this thread. I love that people are VIGOROUSLY defending drinking hard core liquor in front of their kids at a play date? Does no one think that is a bit fucked up? I mean, how bad do you need a drink? (Don't ask me, I am counting the hours to bedtime...)
