My new playgroup drinks

Anonymous
Yup, count me in with those who would not have been comfortable with the martinis.

When my friends and I get together with the kids, there will often be beer or wine, and I'm fine with that. But martinis+kids+driving sounds ill-advised and probably dangerous.

When I get together with my playgroup in the afternoon drinks are served...but so is water & soda. No body judges either way.

Let's carpool! Or, in this case, we'll hit the metro together!

I'm having a playgroup today at 4:30 with wine and cheese, I must be a horrible mother.

I thought so, too, but a martini has about twice the amount of alcohol as a glass of wine.

I still don't see a problem, though, as long as people are responsible.

I love beer and wine at night, pretty much have some wine or beer every night... but to me children, playgroups and alcohol don't mix. So I would feel uncomfortable with that.

if you need to drink hire one.

I feel sorry for the husbands and for the children.

and I bet these are the women who don't let the kids play with barbies, they don't allow the kids to watch tv and they're the ones saying nannies chat instead of watching their children in play areas.

Ah, I think that YOU could use a drink or two! (And a grammar class, but that's another topic!)

How many languages do YOU speak? do you write anything besides English by any chance?
English is my 3rd language and drinking while children are playing is IRRESPONSIBLE.

Drinking (no matter how little) impairs one of it's "reflexes" yes, that "caught" when the child falls from the sofa won't happen if you're busy with your martini.

If the nanny is not allowed to drink while watching the children why the parents can?
after all it's just one drink, right?

Hypocrites!

You feel sorry for a lot of people don't you? I;ll give you some advice...stop caring so much about things that don't affect you, especially if you aren't willing to do anything about it.

I'll be affected if you, one of those stupid alcoholic mothers runs over me or my child.

I'll be affected if you enter my ER drunk with a child victim of domestic accident because you and your "friends" were impaired by the amount of alcohol you took while you were supposed to be WATCHING them and caring for them.

I feel really sorry for them, even more now that I've learned what kind of person you are.

hopefully you won't enter my ER at 5 30 smelling alcohol crying that your child suffered an accident while you're "watching" her/him in your playgroup.

I'm pretty sure I'll be okay. Should I worry that the cheese I bought isn't pasteurized? You really should stop being so sanctimonious, its an unpleasant characteristic that tends to repel people.

Thankfully, you don't live in Europe.

not that they'd be too welcoming to you anyway

What's the difference between having a martini at a playdate and having one for dinner? I'd rather see moms drink responsibly at a playdate than get trashed at night, thinking it's OK because the kids are asleep.
