Good question. I recall a time when my wife and I were walking down the street and a homeless white man asked my wife if she needed help (he apparently thought she was with me against her will). In this instance, I wasn't really offended, but the moment sticks with me for a lot of reasons.

We are doing relatively well together - but not rich. No one is superior to anyone else. I am educated. We are from very different SES - I grew up very poor, she was upper-middle class. My family LOVES her!

We are doing relatively well together - but not rich. No one is superior to anyone else. I am educated. We are from very different SES - I grew up very poor, she was upper-middle class. My family LOVES her!

Another good question. It's hard to say for sure because I think I am a pretty friendly person, in general. I think white people may feel like I "get" certain things about their culture based on my being married to a white woman. But this is hard to know for certain.

I get "crap" more from black women, than from black men. At least, black women are more obvious with their disapproval. The inverse is true, as well. White men seem more troubled by us than white women. I agree that this can be off-putting, but it's clearly not having much of an impact.

NP here, but all the mixed race couples I know have faced enormous very overt prejudice from blacks (men and women) including having abuse hurled at them in public and not even a hint of disapproval from whites in their day to day life. I think PPs question is valid. For some reason some people think it's perfectly acceptable to voice prejudice if you are black but clearly racist if you are white. The radio program PP quotes is a perfect example of it. There is no way that a show describing that situation in opposite terms would be on air.

I agree. If a show aired where they were saying white people should stick to dating/marrying other white people, and whites who date/marry black are betraying their race, there would be MASSIVE blowback. They would be accused of being racist knuckle-draggers....but somehow, it's perfectly fine for black people to say things like that, and they are not considered racists. It boggles my mind.

Have you ever been on the website stormfront or world news daily? I actually thought world news daily was a religious news site until I started to read the comments on the stories. I am sorry to but there are many white people who don't give a flying flip if you call them racist. They are too busy comparing blacks to apes to care. Time to pop your sheltered bubble.

Please ask your interacial couple friends to travel to some areas down south and when they get back, they can tell you if the whites were afraid of being called racist. Get a clue.
