I’m a black man married to a white woman: Ask me anything.

Not me. I'm 5'9" and 108 pounds.

That sounds scary. I don't think I would be proud of that fact.

I'm the 5'4 PP, and even I get the sarcasm. C'mon people.

Almost every single caller was a black man who thought that a black man or woman should not date/marry a non-black. They all said it was bringing the black race down, and that it was a betrayal of the black race.

They were going on and on about how black women need to find a black man, and stop betraying their race by getting together with white men, etc.

It caught me off-guard. I really didn't realize that in today's day and age, so many people still have such a problem with interracial relationships.

Do you also wonder if white men and white give him crap? Or do you think whites are cool with it?

I don't think white men would give him crap about it (even if they weren't cool with it) because they wouldn't want to seem un-PC or be branded as a racist.

You're fooling yourself. In fact, I'm amazed you typed that with a straight face.

NP here, but all the mixed race couples I know have faced enormous very overt prejudice from blacks (men and women) including having abuse hurled at them in public and not even a hint of disapproval from whites in their day to day life. I think PPs question is valid. For some reason some people think it's perfectly acceptable to voice prejudice if you are black but clearly racist if you are white. The radio program PP quotes is a perfect example of it. There is no way that a show describing that situation in opposite terms would be on air.

Not saying it's not a valid question, just wondering why it wasn't two-sided. But, I think that some of you (white) folks on this board are just looking for ways to say that black women are looking at IR couples saying "Look, see, she's pissed you took 'one of the good ones'". To even suggest that whites don't have a problem with IR is just...precious.

The pp admitted that the show featured an extremist guest. Not surprised the callers had extremist viewpoints. And, FYI: Rush Limbaugh is still on the air.

Here is a question for OP: Are you and/or your white wife friendly to black women? I ask because there are quite a few interracial couples at DD's elementary school. A couple are BW/WH, but the majority, as with the population as a whole are BH/WW. I am a black female, and in my experience, in the couples where the wife is black, both spouses are relatively friendly and engaging. But the couples where the wife is white, both parties are very standoffish. I have tried for years to make friends with some of these people, and they are very distant. I barely get a smile or a hello. And the black husbands are even less friendly than their white wives. What is up with that?

Yeah, you'd've thought the winky face made it pretty obvious, but... *sigh*

I can relate to this. From DCUM, I can only guess that the WW are so prepared for "the angry black woman" that they don't take the time to realize that the grimace they are expecting is really a smile.

I haven't, not really. I think it's because I seem to have ended up in Interracial Relationship Utopia: I see just as many mixed race couples out and about around here as I do same race. I also think its that I suffer from Bitchy Resting Face. I rarely had to deal with random stupid comments from strangers on the street. I can count on one hand and have most of my fingers left over the amount of times I've heard something stupid. Even then, they were more the *is that your kid* variety. One old lady criticized my lack of family planning when I told her my sons were close in ages, not twins.

NP. LOL.

White women have any of you tried to go back? This would make a great book.

Will you get pissed when she insists on keeping her Paula Deen cookbooks? Or is that a deal breaker.

The question was to white women (not just you), have any of you tried to go back?

Yes, I have a follow up question. Did you grow up in a single or double-wide?
