Is VDA the best club to get recruited from?

This year VDA has managed to recruit the bulk of those players. Some years it’s more spread out. But for those players it has little to do with the club they play for, even though parents think it does. Those same players could be at any number of other clubs and land the same D1’s. Because they are the best 40-50 soccer players in the area.

The bulk of the player movement happened when BP left TSJ. Added pieces since then, but when all the imported players age out, will the results remain? Possibly.

Bp didn't leave...fcv finally dissolved into TSJ. The final year of CC and BP at FCV was when the club transitioned totally to TSJ in Springfield. None of the FCV kids were going to move to TSJ/Springfield. CC had a gig set up for himself. BP was finally picked up by a club. Its not like he had a choice. The biggest competition to fcv at that time was Mclean... and they wouldn't have him.

The biggest competition at that time was Vda. McLean had become union. You’re about 8 years behind. Again, this is all very easy to find on Google.

Genius move by QP to hire his biggest competition.

Thanks for the clarification, BP.

Top 25 club before BP.

The social media and marketing started when BP got there though. The talent has always been there.

Not on the girls side. The 06 team was really good. After that.....yikes.

Use your google. Very easy to find.

The google confirmed that prior to BP, aside from the 06 team, VDA was not very good.

Top 25 club but not very good? Again, thanks for the free marketing.

She will be promoted heavily by the club and get national attention. But for everyone else it depends very much on the fit. VDA will give an uber competitive (cutthroat) environment that might be motivating but also might be detrimental to your daughter’s development. The actual soccer and physical development will need to come from the outside. VDA is mindset development and marketing potential. If your daughter has the talent then she doesn’t need VDA to get where she wants to go. Another ECNL or even some GA clubs will be fine especially if the coach/style is a good fit. VDA has two types of players: 1) true superstars and 2) wannabe superstars who think (and their parents think) they are better than they really are.

Cutting through all the BS of dcum, this is the fairest representation of the club.

BP had his pick of clubs. Everybody knows that. FC Virginia was still a top club despite being in the GA. Something to be said for that.

It is all marketing. VDA is very good at marketing. If your player is thriving in an ECNL or GA team with enough exposure at showcases and playoffs , she should be fine. Stop chasing snake oil VDA sells. Not that it is a bad club but it is not what everyone think it is.

Do they have more connections to college coaches than the other clubs?

VDA looks good but think about their teams...2010s, 09s, 08s all came from collapse of STJ and NVA getting rid of ECNL...which made VDA basically be able to form super teams.

Will probably help their other age groups in the long run but their whole claim of developing these players is really 50% true...they've refined these players to be better but in the long run they are no different than any other club.

That’s not really how recruiting works. The connections are made by the player by reaching out to coaches, sending film that gets their attention, all in order to see them play in a game at one of the showcases. The college coach may want to get the club’s feedback on a player but clubs protect their reputation and aren’t going to oversell anyone. You need to prove it on the pitch, at a college showcase, where the invited college coach is there to see you play.

I’d actually argue that BP / FCVs biggest competition at the time was NVA. Until they shot themselves in the foot.
