My kid has a game scheduled for Saturday 8am, with the real feel of 4 degrees. hard no.

I’m curious. How does that mindset help? I understand a snow storm as DMV folks forget physics and think that a 4x4 will help not help you stop so that is a safety issue.

Cold is not a safety issue. There is so much modern technology to stay warm. I grew up in the north and we never thought about the weather. How is allowing an uncontrollable element such as the weather help your child deal with unpredictable circumstances they will inevitably face in the real world? I am genuinely curious.

My kid is 12. You are insane. I don’t care how you grew up, a 12 yr old doesn’t need to be playing an outdoor soccer game for any reason in 4 degrees. TWELVE. Have you lost all perspective? Are you ok?

You obviously aren't a Viking

At 12 your kid should be going on raids, getting married and avenging your death

I always find it hilarious when people are "concerned" about their kids in the cold like when schools close. Maybe not your kid but majority of them will be outside playing in the snow and cold for hours anyway, yes more bundled up than at a soccer game but a lot won't be. Most kids wouldn't care about playing a game in the cold; it's the parents that dont want to stand on the sidelines in the cold and understandably so lol.

Laugh away. There are big differences between 30 v 4 degrees; as well between appropriate multilayer ski clothes vs soccer gear (no matter what long sleeve or long leg compression gear one wears under their kit) as well as soccer clears vs snow shoes. But hey; you do you. I will parent my own kid and you can find it hilarious all you want. Doesn’t matter to me.

Make sure to give my 12 year old a good scolding when he shows up in a t-shirt requesting to shovel your snow lol

I can’t wait for some of these people to post their kid on IG next week with a little shoveled piece of turf doing ball mastery.

It was just announced. The outdoor tournament is cancelled and they are holding futsal in local gyms with no refunds.

Hey, I dont try to understand it lol. Kids run hot i guess. I remember my parents trying to put all that crap on me and once I got to the sled hill all of it got peeled off so it doesn't concern me. Now wearing hoodies and what not in the summer is where I step in like Red Foreman 😂.

Then you became a navy seal and green beret at 14

My son does the same thing...every cold practice he ends up down to short sleeves and shorts after the warmup. I'm freezing, but he's fine...and not faking it fine, but really fine. I don't think it's a "tough guy" thing...I just think we run on different temps or something.

Maybe an adult should explain to both of you the science involved in heat retention and impact on sports performance
