Isn’t that tournament always held at the Henrico Sports Center, which is a municipal facility owned and run by Henrico County. I would assume that if the county closes their rec centers and other government facilities on Saturday this would be included in that (esp since you’d have no staff to run it, they’re county employees). It’s not the same if it was privately owned like TSJ or the infamous Athletic Republic.

According to the internet, it’s owned by the county but operated by a private company.

That’s correct that there is a third party operator that manages the daily operations but the county has the final say if there is a weather closure. It’s not solely up to that operator.

If you are a college coach that travels with hotel costs, you probably have to decide tonight. College coaches don’t want to waste budgets on half showcases. For local coaches it different. Coaches usually cancel with extreme cold weather bc There are other opportunities.

Btw Forecast on snow amounts is very variable - cold front is not.

Really? Here is my prediction for the RVA tournament. Friday goes on as usual. Saturday the county closes all their facilities either early or all day so the rest of the tournament is cancelled. I’m not sure what happens in that case if the tournament is caused for a force majeure/act of god event. But I’d be prepared to eat Saturday hotel costs and drive back to the DMV early Saturday.

Cancelled. But no refunds. Oof. Hope people can at least get their hotels refunded (that they just rescheduled when the dates changed). The organizers really made a mess of this.
