The last prediction like this materialized into 2” of snow.

Who can just pull their kid out of school for two days for decisions like this?

Can and will are two different things.

US Futsal is a joke. Scamming families by offering no team refunds and by not doing the right thing and cancelling with people having to drive home to VA, NC, SC, MD and beyond is immoral and unethical.

The futsal tournament in Richmond is a mess. They should have just canceled it.

They still have late games scheduled on Saturday and that’s when the weather starts getting bad.

If I have to pack my car for Saturday with the chance of getting stuck on i95 north for a day or two im gonna be pissed.

Is your futsal club pulling out of Richmond? Its almost all DMV teams. What say you St james, false 8, fc roma, in10sity, Alexandria, sporting md, ballers elite? [And I am sure many more]

Since these are kids, I don’t see how they can avoid cancelling.

My kid actually has gotten frostbite on his toes from a scrimmage many years ago. I will never risk that again. It was very scary. This “showcase” is not much of a real showcase so to me it’s not worth the risk AT ALL.

I grew up in Scotland, in the before times. We ran cross country in the snow and mud in our little short-sleeve-and-shorts kit, but there were hot showers at the end in the locker rooms of my boarding school. Frostbite and hypothermia, as well as hyperthermia, are real risks you don't mess with. The tough-it-out parents on this board should be prepared and aware of the risks.

Could we all just do our own tournament here instead??? I don’t want to get stuck on 95 to play our neighbors.

My parents live in Richmond and they told me they’re now calling for ice there. And it will start earlier there than here. I wouldn’t risk it unless you are prepared to stay a few days (and the area around the Henrico sports place isn’t super fancy).

It depends on your county and club.

Isn’t that tournament always held at the Henrico Sports Center, which is a municipal facility owned and run by Henrico County. I would assume that if the county closes their rec centers and other government facilities on Saturday this would be included in that (esp since you’d have no staff to run it, they’re county employees). It’s not the same if it was privately owned like TSJ or the infamous Athletic Republic.

So according to that chart, Saturday morning is in the red no matter what the wind speed. That’s a hard no for this parent for my kid playing an outdoor game in 15 degrees. Have we lost all perspective here?
