Why is it so hard to meet moderate women?

Thinks abortion is clearly wrong.
Doesn’t like Trump at all and hates the hypocrisy of the administration.
Is OK with people having guns but still sees them as a massive problem in our country that we need to do something about.
Thinks it’s OK to challenge and question widely accepted science instead of taking everything we’re told as dogma.
Prefers a strong border and tough on crime mentality.
Thinks we should love everyone including LGBT community; yes gay people should be able to get married.
Climate change is a serious problem.
Belief in God / higher power.
Need to cut the deficit somehow and find a more fiscally responsible path.

We’ve just been too polarized to toe the party line on everything instead of viewing everything with nuance. So it’s a challenge when it comes to finding the right partner in dating.

Few of these are moderate positions.

A moderate doesn’t believe abortion “is clearly wrong.” They believe this is a personal matter left to the individual to decide in consultation with doctors.

A moderate probably does not like Trump at all. That’s true.

A moderate is probably can tolerate individual gun ownership and be for stronger gun control, yes.

A moderate understands the nature of science is challenging everything so vaccines and the like have already been fully vetted from that perspective. Your rhetoric about dogma is not a moderate position. It’s one held by a paranoid idiot who is poorly educated and doesn’t know what science IS.

A moderate is someone who is welcome to immigrants and realizes they are good for the country both economically and socially. So no, a moderate doesn’t really believe in a “strong” border. That’s right wing talk.

Similarly, a moderate believes in rehabilitation not punishment for crime. “Tough on crime” is an extreme right-wing mentality held by dysfunctional thinkers.

LBTQ support is mainstream already, so that’s hardly staked out as a “moderate” position.

Climate change being a serious problem, sure. But what does a moderate want to do about it? What do YOU?

Belief in God isn’t really a moderate thing, that’s a deeply personal one. But if you’re a superstitious type, sure, you probably want to find someone else with similar magical thinking. But it has zero to do with being moderate.

Cutting the deficit. Again, HOW? That is where the rubber meets the road in judging who is a moderate. A moderate would likely believe tax burdens should be shifted to put more onus on higher income people and we should look at cutting defense spending before social programs.

Most of these are leftist progressive, not moderate. The fact you say belief in God is for “superstitious types” says it all.

A moderate position on religion is someone who believes in God but respects other faiths/denominations/agnostics/atheists.

A moderate position on crime embraces both punishment and rehabilitation. Violent crime should be punished. Drug offenses rehabbed to the extent possible. Drug traffickers should be treated as violent crime. That’s moderate.

Moderates welcome immigration expansion through legal channels and oppose illegal immigration.

Etc etc.

It drives me crazy that extremist views are getting the most attention. I think illegal immigration was out of control and has been for decades - with both Democrats and Republicans at fault. I don’t care who you love or who you marry and I think abortion should be legal but rare. Every child born should be wanted and able to be supported by its parents and by family-friendly policies like universal healthcare. That would fix a lot of our social problems. Republicans don’t seem to care about people after they’re born, but Democrats embrace the victim mentality over personal responsibility. Reality lies in the middle. We need candidates who aren’t MAGA or Radical Left. Bring back the boring, but capable and not crazy, middle.

+1. I consider myself an independent and have voted for both depending on candidate's policy views. I have voted more frequently with D than R. I am definitely sitting out 2028/midterms. I'd like to see more "govern from middle" candidates.

NP and don't understand you on science. There are studies that conclude a disease is caused by X and then another that says it's caused by Y. There were studies that said wine was good for you, now it's that it's better to have no alcohol. To pretend that "science" is a done deal is not moderate. To deny that the Covid vaccine was approved faster than prior vaccines is to treat people like idiots.

I rushed to get the Covid vaccine as soon as it was available to me, but that's because I judged the benefits to outweigh the risks. However, that's different from assuming those who weigh things differently are wrong or stupid and should be made to reach the same conclusions as you.

No, you just don’t understand science.

I grew up in a Republican family (80s). Not one of us has voted for a Republican in 25 years.

Once the GOP made it clear they were going to fiercely align themselves with fundamentalist Christianity, they lost us. Moderate republicans became moderate democrats who actually believe in keeping the government out of the private lives of people - including abortion, gay rights, etc.

Moderate women believe in keeping the government out of medical decisions of women's health. Even a lot of Republican women agree.

Not sure. But when I see "not political" in a guy's bio or they tell me such, well, that is my sign to say goodbye.

That is so narrow minded. Good poster child for your party I suppose.

It translates to "I don't think politics affects the lives of people." And they think of voting as like a sports allegiance, instead of having real, serious ramifications on human beings. Massive red flag - who would want to date someone so devoid of compassion for others?

Too bad their own party is too chicken to actually put this to a vote. They would rather be "big daddy" and tell women what they should want.
