The United States Feels Like a Sad, Empty, Dark Place

I see hope in the future. People are disgusted by maga and will swing the other way. We see that in local elections. What worries me is the gun culture. The Idaho brush fire event is just another reason our country is so unsafe. Idiots have guns and just shouldn’t.

Nah, I’ll share my opinion like you did yours.

I don’t know if you have noticed, but a lot of African Americans have been sitting out of the protests. Do we like what is going on? Of course not, but people are taking this time to look inward. Hardship is not new, he can’t do anything worse than what has already been done to Black people in this country so I’m not going to sit around and cry about it. Vote, figure out how to insulate you and your family from the negative effects from the Trump admin, and move on.

Drawn to Marxism that spreads misery.

The US has been through hard times before, and POC know this acutely. Many of us had very hard childhoods. Feel sad, then join the resistance.

Even the white lotus Brit character in Italy agrees. Barbaric days of 40 years life span are over in most developed countries.

It's getting there. I barely even see little kids anymore... mostly old people around me in Fairfax. Nobody wants a family it's become such a drag.

OP I was one of the earlier posters who recommended you find a way to get involved. I am in no way trying to telling you to “ get over it.” The despair you are feeling is real and it is done by design. This is how authoritarian’s operate. they want us to feel demoralized so we don’t fight back. I implore you to please find a way to become active. It really makes you feel better.

Attend a Tesla protest especially the one in Georgetown. They throw a dance party. It’s a lot of fun. Their philosophy is, Joy is an act of resistance. Or find a group that writes postcards or make phone calls for any of the many amazing candidates running for office in Virginia.

I promise, you will feel better by taking action. You can still feel sad, but we all can do something.

TLDR: the despair you feel is real and it is by design to keep you from fighting back. Don’t let the bastards get you down!

Or, better yet, participate in a Free America, anti-Trump protest. They will be taking place nationwide on July 4.

Actually I don’t recommend that for OP right now. This is the political forum but this OP is too Debbie Downer and this poster needs some light hearted fun right now.

This is all they know. They think they’re smart but completely lack any critical thinking skills, are very influenced by groupthink and trends. They’re so unbelievably superficial and shallow. We preach acceptance and diversity yet everyone must fit into some arbitrary narrow little box in order to feel a sense of belonging.

Agree.

I am firing people left and right for gross incompetence.

They can’t write, focus, spell, punctuate, reason, think, do math, pay attention, speak in complete sentences yet are college and high school Grads.

The amount of “work” we have to check, review and redo has never been higher. Very sad state of education and unprepared work force.

They’re toast. Go back and take remedial high school classes at a community college, pay attention and put the damn phones and Chromebooks away. Start over on your education and basic skills. Many don’t have any.

We’re about to only hire those who went to Montessori school k-8. Or some private schools for high school. Everyone else can’t think for themselves or complete work to a basic quality level. May hire college grads from other English speaking countries if we figure out the visa sponsoring.

I recommend OP switching parties and vote Republican. As the saying goes, “If you can’t beat them, join them.”

Welcome, OP, to the goodness that is MAGA. Let its light shine into your dark soul.

You sound like a Russian trying to justify why you let Putin rob you blind year after year.

We don’t have to fall for that here, too.

Oligarchs are stealing government money and contracts and taking away benefits that go to people and society as a whole so it can go in their already full pockets. And you immediately blame an unhappy person for not being frugal enough. Is your favorite quote Work Makes Freedom?

There is no pleasure living in the US due to politics, standards of living, how expenses it is, the lack of real freedoms, half of the country engulfed by the maga cult even when facts stare them in the face, a broken and cruel SCOTUS who insists on unlimited executive power that has sealed our fates as a country, AI taking over, and tech bros being clearly in charge, our way of life being dismantled, education on its knees…there is no amount of praying that will ever see us through, it’s over for all of us. It’s too late.

Sadly agree. We had a good run.

But, the fascists and fearmongerers and bigots played the long game with SCOTUS masterfully, I admit. And it's over now. The rest of the civilized world is horrified and embarrassed for us. As they should be. People voted for hate and to hurt other people but it's going to hurt themselves. And they don't care or don't understand that. It's gross.
