Where are you coming from?

potomac. can't take the metro because of kids and number of bags. booked the flight 3 months ago. trying to understand how bad it will be and if she need to give up/try to rebook (and loose a ton of money in the process).

Don't protest down there. Most protests and events are not near the parade. Give it as little local attention as possible.

They only ride the Red line.

It still is a one day event. An 8 block parade.

Yet roads closed for several days. Why?

Book a room near the airport the night before that would work around road closures. Preferably one where you can leave your car parked and take airport shuttle to the airport.

Don’t know a local soul who’s trying to be there and most are trying not to be in the city this week if they can help it.

Our family is out of town this weekend, and I’ve never been so happy to miss an event! It sounds like a massive logistical headache. But more than that, we live close to the Capitol and have bad memories of all the helicopters and troop trucks in 2020/21 (both the constant noise and the feeling of living in an “occupied territory”), so I suspect Saturday will be loud and stressful in our neighborhood.

Please tell your mom that strangers that she’s never even met adore her!

Please also tell her that even 50501 is recommending local protests rather than going to downtown DC.

There will be plenty of downtown DC protests going forward. This one, with lots of war toys at his disposal, the threat of thunderstorms, and possibly competing events, would be a good one to skip — or protest elsewhere.

Sigh. True. Well, mostly true. And they really stand out sometimes.

Tourists who are registered Dems or are from blue states have no trouble with METRO. It’s only the red state trash and other racists who are befuddled by public transit.

Educational attainment is correlated with party.

No one will be able to get close. They have placed 10’ fencing all a long the route.

So no observers?

If the flight is from 6-10 PM, you should double check its status. Pretty much all airlines are also letting people switch to alternate times for free.

My flight is at 6 AM Saturday, and I am hoping uber can get me there from MD. Metro is not an option that early.
