Wicked

I don’t like Cynthia at all. She should stick to stage productions. I’m curious about Arianna in this because she got her start on Broadway.

I will just wait to hear what the non-paid critics say.

The NY Times gave Cynthia a rave review and called her the best thing about the movie.

She's no Johnny Gill

It was sooooo gooood. This comes from someone who went in ready to hate it- and I don’t like the two leads. Have to say they did it right

I’m shocked someone on DCUM knows who Johnny Gill is.

Yes, the movie covers only Act I of the musical, even though it's as long as the whole musical. You have to wait a year to see Act II.

What a terrible idea.

It’s just such an obvious cash grab that it instantly turns me off from the film.

So movies shouldn't make money?

Paid critic.

All of the above! Spot on. This can’t go away soon enough for me.

I’ll watch on streaming. I love a good movie musical but I cannot handle people singing along in the theater.

Don't bring small kids! They were too antsy because it's long and scary.

Otherwise, loved it!

Did you hate The Wiz, too?

She has won a Tony, an Emmy and a Grammy. This is her bid for an Oscar.

Me, too. I had to re-read several times to make the connection.

Went today for a matinee showing so it wasn't super expensive. Movie ticket was for 1:45. We left the theater at 445. Was with 4 eight year olds who tolerated it very well in terms of not being scared and only 1 had to pee midway through. When we were leaving we saw some folks dressed up for the next showing - hats, someone had a full green face plus witch outfit.

I went in to the movie with no expectations. Managed to avoid most of the ads prior. I had seen the musical and read the book but it was so long ago that I couldn't remember much. I liked it a lot and would recommend it.

Not me. Grande looks sick and it makes me feel sad.
