Yes, the movie is based on the musical that’s based on the book that was inspired by the original Wizard of Oz 1900 book. But the musical (& movie, I assume) is much tamer & more family friendly than the book Wicked.

I absolutely love Wicked, but the run time is outrageous. 2 hours, 40 min- plus with previews will likely be 3 hours. Honestly, I couldn’t even do that at home much less in a theatre.

I don’t like Cynthia at all. She should stick to stage productions. I’m curious about Arianna in this because she got her start on Broadway.

I will just wait to hear what the non-paid critics say.

I hated the book (I’m typically a tolerant reader), but I loved the theater musical. Is this closer to the book or the original musical?

I saw it last night. It was fine, but I didn't love it. I belong to AMC A List so I see nearly every movie that comes out. I would say Wicked is overly long and it gets a bit boring in the middle. I also saw Gladiator, so I am officially part of the " Glicked" Club now.
