Define crime. Because coming in illegally is a crime. Driving around without insurance is a crime. Working without a valid i9 and not paying state and federal income tax is a crime. I bought a brand new car and was hit in less than a week after getting it. The guy who got out to look basically spoke zero English and high tailed it out of there, probably because he had no insurance and was undocumented. Now I, as a law abiding citizen, get screwed because I had to pay to fix everything and my insurance went up because I was hit by an undocumented migrant who had no insurance and broke even more laws by hit and running.

+1 The same thing happened to me. A non-english speaking man sideswiped my car in a starbucks drive through of all places. We both got out and I simply stated he hit my car. He walked back to his truck and fled. Fantastic.

Imagine a man rapes and kills your daughter instead of damaging your car? We need the border secured. Trump has a mandate to do that now, and he will.

First, this is going to take years to construct, and will line government contractors pockets with the overhead. Second, US citizens will be responsible for housing, food and transportation costs during the time period for adjudication. It seems like this set up is aimed to further privatize the deportation process at an enormous expense to American taxpayers.

Why is this more viable than having immigrants work while awaiting adjudication? Increase tracking capabilities and require employers of immigrants to maintain information on them. It will cost a fraction of the money used to construct and maintain these facilities.

No adjudication, cancel all asylum cases and deport the rest back to their home

Let’s try a non-employment law firm whose bottom line isn’t impacted by these changes.

The amended Act contains two provisions that, taken together, appear to effectively ban the use of E-Verify in Illinois:

Section 12(a) reads, “Nothing in this Act shall be construed to require an employer to enroll in any Electronic Employment Verification System, including the E-Verify program . . . beyond those obligations that have been imposed upon them by federal law.”
Section 13(b) asserts that “An employer shall not impose work authorization verification or re-verification requirements greater than those required by federal law.”
These provisions seem to state that Illinois employers who are not federally mandated to enroll in E-Verify are not required to — and thus, “shall not” — do so.


2007, the Illinois legislature tried to prohibit the use of E-Verify on the basis that it may be overinclusive, providing inaccurate information regarding work authorization to the detriment of would-be employees. In short order, however, the 2007 law was struck down by a federal court as an unconstitutional violation of the Supremacy Clause. If the most recent amendments to the Act are considered a total ban of all voluntary use of E-Verify, on their face or in practice, similar constitutional challenges may be asserted and prevail.

I agree it is possibly going to get worse, because people are not receiving adequate or any treatment for mental health issues.
