Is this a new initiative?

Do you like Eric Adams? He was elected by RCV. Enjoy.

Alaska has RCV and is still counting votes. DC has such low state capacity that it will take months to decide the winner. This referendum will last exactly one election cycle and then get tossed by popular support.

GOP is getting rid of RCV in Alaska because that's why Sarah Palin lost in 2022.

That's what we want though. No more Sarah Palin's of any ideological stripe.

The leadership of the DC Democrats should be seriously embarrassed by the results here. If the party were at all functional, its leadership would step down after losing on its signature issue.

RCV is better. He’s as corrupt as Trayon and ilk on DC Council but he reduced crime and impounded ATVs. And now will go to jail. We got some use out of him and he was beholden to the voters.

Trayon didn’t reduce crime, get rid of ATVs and probably won’t go to jail. The only use out of his term was to himself. He certainly did not care about the voters at all.

Earlier today Frumin minced his words on whether Trayon should be suspended and wouldn’t commit to saying he should be based on the values of the DC Council. Then when asked whether they could perhaps start listening to the people such as on the crime bill, he said no because DC Council had to stick to their values.

Our jaws dropped. No idea why Nnamdi was mollycoddling him and didn’t call him out on flip flopping in the matter of minutes. He has lost the vote of 6 more people in Ward 3 after that interview — we are unrelated, were at lunch and marveled at the two-facedness, opportunism, self-servedness and kakistocracy of it all. It’s like the other side of the Trump coin.

I’ll take no federal tax. Trump can have at it. Even if he pulled one of his Cabinet picks on DC, how could they be any worse than this confederacy of corrupt dunces?

This is 72 percent of voters telling the left wing of the city council to go to hell. There should prompt a lot of introspection though I doubt it will.

So long as an even remotely competent challenger arises, Frumin will be a one-termer. His constituents think he's a clown who has done exactly nothing on anything he ran on except slurp the bike lobby while also trying to hide the fact that he drives everywhere (seriously, he parks like three blocks away from community events so people don't see him driving half a mile to get there).

Weird, because left wing activists were some of the most prominent supporters of the Initiative. The DC Dems are pretty centrist, but really prefer power over anything resembling power. They admitted to carrying the water for certain Dems on Council, notably Anita Bonds, who will be the most screwed by this initiative.

RCV can be gamed. Most people don't understand the various ways votes can be counted, so they don't know what they voted to enact.

Have fun DC.

Simple fact: DC does NOT need the Council. The Council needs DC for their paychecks. Good riddance. Hope someone DMs Elon so something good comes out of the brushfire.
