I know all you moderates are truly convinced you’re the smartest, most rational people ever, but you’re slowly boiling to death in a fire started by the GOP and you’re mad at the people noticing it’s getting hot. You’re not rational, you’re not moderate.

I could go on, but you “common sense” people are over sensitive and under thinking.

Haha. I also think people who throw the terms “left wing” and “progressive” as insults truly no idea what those terms originally means.

Left wing stems from the fact that those who use to represent interests of the labor class sat on ten left hand spire of the room. Progressive just means a desire for progressive in positive change.

I am proudly a progressive left winger and hope the D party doesn’t die a slow death of “being moderate” (ie fraction of the party that thinks we are all good and no change needed).

Democrats have abandoned labor and support the desires of the laptop class.

Yes that is what everyone is saying. The democrats have been taken over by the moderates. Why do you think no action has been taken on the judiciary committee? Moderates will play the fiddle when the country burns down around them.

The whole country moved far right after Reagan. The liberal doesn't really exist anymore.

I know everyone has a crush on AOC, but the fact she exists doesn't mean she sets party policy. The fact that gaza protesters at Columbia aren't republicans doesn't mean they're Democratic powerbrokers.

The mainstream of today's Democratic party are basically Reagan Republicans. Tough on crime, include middle-class in tax cuts, reduce federal headcount, spend heavily on military and it relies heavily on the backing of pretty much all major business except the oil industry. But the democratic party also refuses to take any steps on climate change.

They're so MILD it's insane. I can't stand what sticks in the mud they are, but an administration that would historically be considered right of center and business-as-usual would be a relief these days.

+1. We can’t even get single-payer healthcare and people think Democrats are too extreme?

After everyone saw their company provided health care premiums and other benefits more than double after Obamacare because they insisted on the working supporting the non-working, who would trust democrats to meddle further?

This complaint doesn’t even make any sense. Are you even an American?

Who wants the moderates? They give us the pro Israel AIPAC legislation that outlaws free speech in America. They meekly vote to confirm radical judges for the Supreme Court. They support the filibuster. They support the status quo which got us Trump.

Do you want to be moderately drunk, moderately in love, moderately supportive of the constitution? Do you want a moderate fighting against Nazis? Do you want a moderate next to you in a foxhole? Of course not.

Bismarck, Chamberlain, etc were moderates. Moderates are history’s losers.

No 23 unpopulated states have two senators which suppress the left in this country.

Exactly. The democrats have gone quiet on social issues by just being tolerant but not making bold statements-LGBT is good, Black is good, brown is good. Republicans try this whole "exposing" angle where black and hispanic voters are discovering that Democrats don't support them or whatever, but what is really happening is the Democrats are trying to compensate for a much further right part of their base and just have started shutting up about any policies that certain demographics care about.

See how quickly Dems choke if you ask about trans rights. They just condemn the Republicans for talking about it. We've basically routed back to don't ask, don't tell.

The fact that Donald Trump was the republican nominee after being caught on camera bragging about sexually assaulting women in his previous election and is once again the nominee after the events of January 6th has completely destroyed my faith in every current republican politician. They have well and truly sold their souls. If they clean house in a few years I’ll consider voting for a republican again then.

Bill Clinton said and did equally disgusting sexually exploitative behaviors and I am old enough to recall Democrats in the House and Senate saying, “This isn’t relevant to Clinton’s presidential job performance.”

My, my, what a difference a couple of decades makes. Or a change of party registration in the sexually harassing party.

I am the PP you are responding to and I wasn’t old enough to vote for Clinton. But I do remember my mother talking about how disgusting he was. I think you are wrong to assume sexual assault isn’t a really really big deal to some of us.

The idea of a “moderate” was a little illusory because historically a lot of it was southern Dems who hadn’t yet realigned to the Rs after the Civil Rights movement and then liberal Northeastern Republicans got kicked out of their party, and Gingrich turned up the heat on partisan politics.

Plus every 10 years the gerrymanders get worse and worse so there is no constituency for moderate politicians.

Basically elections have become more partisan and more nationalized— I’m certainly going to vote for MD Senate based on who I want to control the Senate which is not something that would have been common 20 years ago.

I thought Clinton should resign but I didn’t think he should be impeached for it. Something can make him unfit for office without being grounds for impeachment.

+1000 Not to mention his rape conviction or the felonies related to covering up his affair with the porn star. He's such a tawdry piece of work.

Did you forget about Monica the anti-bullying TED talk presenter?

You got me, I won't vote for Bill Clinton EVER again.

There is a lot of room in the democratic tent for people who are pro-choice and don't want crazy running the country.

I would argue that Biden is much closer to Reagan than most of the current GOP.

What about a pro life democrat. Is there room for them?

I'm certain some dems are pro-life but just aren't into forcing their values on others like the MAGAs.

That's rich...and ignorant...so you are actually going to tell me that Dems aren't into forcing their values on others? You know...I wasn't going to vote for Trump if a moderate Dem whose values unify the country actually ran...but your comment is why many moderate Dems are not happy....so still not sure I'll vote for Trump...you Dems better nominate someone to unify the country because right now neither side is doing this successfully and if you can't see that you are wearing blinders.

Most democrats think abortion is awful, but understand it's a thing that happens and has always happened. And they just don't think Christian nationalists in Texas shouldn't be in charge of working out the complicated finer points of how to handle it.

No, there is not. We have a big tent, but those types are definitely NOT welcome in it. Move along.

Fully agree. Citizens United is a huge part of this. If 80% of Americans are moderates, then how are these extreme factions in control? Big money and big interests. This is not democracy.
