What happened to the Moderate Dem or Rep??

This is the reason democrats would lose unless they recognize and try to find a solution of robberies and crime.

You mean the robberies and crime that spiked under Trump?

As with his 2016 lies about unemployment, Trump is now riding an imaginary crime wave and, alas, many voters are buying what he’s selling.

A huge spike in crime, including a whopping 29 percent surge in murders, occurred during the pandemic in 2020 while Trump was president. In that year, eight of the 10 states with the highest murder rates voted for Trump

https://thehill.com/opinion/criminal-justice/4658521-trump-is-riding-an-imaginary-crime-wave/

And Democrats clearly have found a solution, because crime has been falling sharply since the Democrats took over:

Violent crime fell in the first quarter of 2024 by more than 15%, continuing its postpandemic decline nationwide, according to data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Homicides and reported rapes both declined about 26% in the first three months of 2024 compared with a year earlier, data from the FBI’s quarterly uniform crime report showed. Robberies were down about 18% and aggravated assault fell by about 13%, the FBI said. Reported property crime declined about 15%.

What a classic right wing post - be completely ignorant of the situation, blame the Democrats for something the Republicans caused, then accuse the Democrats of not fixing it when they are the only adults in the room actually doing something about it.

You've probably made the same idiotic posts about the other issues you have no comprehension of - the border, the economy, and everything else Fox News and OAN have lied to you about. But I guess it's not your fault - if you had the ability to think critically and check facts you wouldn't be a Republican in the first place.

Trump winning or losing I think will all depend on who Harris picks for her VP.

That being said, current social policies and woke ideology is what has driven many to the right. It needs to be reined in a bit. Just take a look at all the attacks on JK Rowling. That is wrong IMHO and I have LGBTQ friends. I stand with JK Rowling, she has the right to her opinion and beliefs. That does not make her anti-LGBTQ.

She shouldn’t be getting death threats, but her anti-LGTBQ beliefs are what make her anti-LGBTQ.

Nope. We'll have to agree to disagree. Because saying you don't believe minors should get gender re-assignment surgery is not anti-LGBTQ. It's not anti-LGBTQ to personally not believe the different genders either - it's called freedom of religion and is a protected class to be equally protected. I respect LGBTQ and their beliefs but vice versa should also stand true.

You are speaking for JK Rowling?

WTF does religion have to do with being a bigot? Oh wait…

And therein lies the problem and the breakdown because folks like you go straight for name-calling. You can't accept the fact that someone can support LGBTQ rights but also have a difference of opinion on certain specific issues. Moderates are tired of the intolerance of their differences of opinion. Why can't you accept that we have differences of opinion on certain issues...must we all agree to only your opinions? Fine, take religion out of it....differences of opinion should be respected. Agree to disagree. Compromise.

We are the silent majority. The woke are very vocal about their beliefs online, which misleads them to assume they are the majority when they are not.

And honestly, I blame them for the mess our country is in now just as much as I blame the far-right extremist Christians who want to ban abortion. If common sense had prevailed and their intolerance (oh, the irony) were not an issue, we would not have Trump as the only Republican nominee this year. They are no better and just as divisive as the far-right extremist Christians.

The difference is, of course, the "woke" left are a fringe. The religious fundamentalists are core to the current MAGA/GOP and leadership.

Kinda important.

Kinda important to understand that many who were on the fence went pro-Trump because of the intolerant cancel culture of the "woke" left. And the more I hear that kind of talk, the more I'm willing to right the pendulum that went far off balance to the left. And being taxed more for just making $200K is not OK in my book either. I also don't believe in socialist universal health care as many EU countries have because I know firsthand how imperfect it is. And my stance on illegal immigration...well you know...the more I think about it and seeing the continued intolerance from the "woke" left...don't be too surprise if Trump wins and you will only have yourselves to blame.

I don’t understand how people immediately pivot to “we can’t have socialist healthcare!!” when our healthcare system is demonstrably failing really badly on so many different metrics.

Shortages of medical professionals, sky high costs in every respect, high infant and maternal mortality rates, medical debt driving people into bankruptcy, hedge funds taking over hospitals and closing them or making doctors lives miserable, on and on and on.

But socialism is the problem? Sorry pp we desperately need intervention and it’s going to take some policies inspired by “socialism” because medical capitalism is JUST. not. Working. Sorry, its not.

Do you have family/friends overseas? Have you had to go to a hospital overseas? If not, then you are not qualified to speak.

I am a DP but I have needed emergency care in a country with socialized medicine and many of my relatives live in places with universal socialized medicine.

The total bill I paid for emergency room care including imaging and treatment was $250.

None of my relatives have ever sought medical care back in the us. One has traveled to Eastern Europe for elective dental procedures.

It’s not the U.S. and a hellscape. And with the internet and young people able to watch TikTok from European peers about their healthcare, no one falls for that trope.

Pros and Cons. Not all countries are alike either. When my FIL was alive and he had to have specialized care he always paid for the private health care clinics not covered by "free" health care because (a) care was immediate and (b) care was by better doctors who go to work for the private clinics to make more money.

Ok, but… the US is no longer competitive. Our life expectancy is actually decreasing while other countries are rising. We have to recognize the L and deal with it.

Agreed. We do have to deal with it but both sides will have to be willing to compromise and concede on certain areas...which I don't see happening because both sides have lost their common sense.

Carjackings in DC skyrocketed so much during the Biden administration that Congress had to get involved. So much for taxation without representation…

It’s all these corrupt judges and prosecutors. Carjack an old women outside of a hospital and you get off a free woman, as long as you register Democrat.

So you think the President of the United States is responsible for crime in DC? Dude you need to go get your GED. Why are people actually engaging with you? It’s like trying to have an adult discussion with a kid who really wants to believe the moon is made of cheese.

No because honestly health care coverage hasn't been a top priority for me. The importance of having a stable job with benefits including health care coverage is what I'm focused on and what I tell young adults including my own...it's important to get a job that has good benefits, including health insurance. On the flip side...growing up my parents had their own very small business with a few employees and did not provide health care coverage...as soon as there was talk that they would be required to provide it, they shut down the business because they were barely making any profit as it was.

So you feel that both sides should compromise but you don’t know what the Republican position on healthcare is? Am I reading you correctly? Why do you have a strong enough opinion to say both sides need to compromise if it’s not your priority and you’re not aware of each side’s proposals?

Are you aware, for example, that the infamous Obamacare was mostly the vestiges of a Republican proposal by the Heritage foundation? And that Republicans screamed bloody murder over it anyway?

As a moderate Republican who voted for Trump, then Biden and now probably Harris...I hope the next four years go by quick regardless of who wins. But if it's Harris I'll bide my time and if we get a moderate Republican or moderate Dem to run they will get my full support because we need more balance. I am tired of being a ping pong.

you conveniently left out the psychotic break of the far left. the fear mongering and belief that the world will actually end under Trump is alive and well. not to mention burning of American flags and literal pro-terrorism rhetoric in response to Biden’s Israel policy and support.

But the far left has almost no representation among elected Dems and the far right is the mainstream of elected R’s.
