What have been your results from Ozempic/Wegovy/semaglutide?

Yes. I just made a virtual appointment with the first person who had a spot available and we had a visit to discuss and then they called in the prescription.

My insurance wouldn’t cover it, so I ended up getting compounded semiglutide. But I could have just paid cash to get the Zepbound / Wegovy if I wanted to (OneMedical called in both for me, couldn’t get either one approved).

You were prescribed it via a virtual? Wow. I’m going to schedule my physical and see about wegovy. I have bcbs federal and have read they will cover for certain comorbidities like high bp, which I have

GW has a Weight Loss Clinic. I got a referral there from my OBGYN. I don’t know if you can just make an appt or if you need a referral from another GW doctor.

I have 45 pounds to lose and got compounded semaglutide, it’s working for me. No shame.

Zero shame. But not zero danger. At least according to my PCP, who warned me against using a compounding pharmacy.

Because medical providers would never be loyal to pharmaceutical companies…

PP here. Pretty sure mine isn't. Certainly not with this.

It does-I have BCBS Federal and have/had high cholesterol. It's covered for me.

With having lost over 40 lbs, as of last week I am at goal weight, my BMI is now in the normal range, and at last check (Jan) my cholesterol was down to nearly normal! (will re check in Aug, and I am not on cholesterol meds). I am now ramping down the dosage, with the idea that I will use the least dosage that is effective. I actually only ever got to 1mg, as Wegovy is very effective for me.

Yeah can’t believe people are getting it prescribed who weight 155 or less. Not cool when there is a shortage

They are likely getting something compounded.

Correct. There is no shortage at the higher doses, and my doctor prescribed me compounded to titrate up.

Which medication/doses are available?

I started mid-February and have lost 15lbs. A good result for me as my BMI was 27 so not super high. I am losing slowly but surely!

I just went up to .5 of Wegovy. Results are very minor so far—did most of you see results before you went to 1.0?

It really varies person to person. I had great results at .25 and .5. Tried 1.0 and didn't like how it made me feel. I'm staying at .5. Can't even imagine the full dose

I lost 15 pounds on .25 and .5. But everyone is different.

Does anyone have doctor recommendations in Columbia Maryland or other surrounding areas? I am 5'3" and over 200 lbs, my BP and cholesterol are high and my PCP is still just telling me I need to diet and exercise. I had previously lost weight doing just that but gained it back and then some during COVID and pregnancy and now cannot lose a single lb no matter what I do. I wont even look at myself anymore. I need to go through a doctor and my insurance (which will only cover it with prior authorization) because I dont have thousands to spend a month.

I am on tirzepatide (compound) but bf takes compounded Semaglutide and in soon to be 5 weeks (shot #5 for him is tomorrow) he's lost 9lbs. His job is fairly sedentary so he does 30-45 min workouts in the morning 4-5 days a week and walks his dog every night (that gets him between 1/2 mile to 1 mile roundtrip walk every night).

I’m struggling to eat while on compounded Zepbound and I’m not losing weight either.
I’m trying to eat healthy foods (one piece seeded high fiber bread with 1/2 avocado, low fat Greek yogurt with psyllium husk, chia seeds and berries, salmon and sweet potato is a typical day) Very small portions because eating makes me feel nauseous though I’m ok most of the time.

And I stopped losing weight after week 6. I ate a small desert and a tiny bit of pasta on Mother’s Day and gained a pound and now I can’t even get that off!

If you’re overweight, you don’t need to eat at all, let alone bread and dessert. Just let the medicine do its work and fast for a few weeks.
