Do you have a job? |
Crossfit. I'm 51, recovering cardio junky/triathlete. I'll still run or bike on weekends but only a few miles. If I go long its on a hike. |
I’m not the poster you quoted but added all up they are talking maybe 14 hours max of activity per week. Average Americans watch 28 hours of TV. How much TV do you watch? |
I work out 5 days a week - swim 3 and lift 2. I also stretch almost daily. I have worked out consistently for decades, but what I do changes. I think once you are used to it, you realize how bad you feel when you do not do it. Probably similar to folks who focus on one activity. |
Run 3x/ week 4-6 miles
Peloton tread 3x week either hikes or HIIT Try to walk or walk/run at least 5 miles a day Need to get back to weights. |
This is such a ridiculous question. Minus the tennis person who openly admits they don’t work, safe to assume most of the respondents in here do. And have kids. Do it before work, it’s possible. |
Running 5-6 days, and alternate yoga and pilates 4-5 days. |
I'm not the PP but just posted that I also run 6 days/week and do yoga or pilates. I run on the treadmill from 5-5:45/6am during the week and with friends for 2 hours on the weekend. I do yoga or pilates on my lunch break/while kids are in bed/while kids are at activities on the weekend. I work full time, DH is very supportive of my activities, and we have local grandparents and a nanny. "Do you have a job person," what do you do from 5-6am? |
NP. I work out every day of the week. Work full time, but kids are older teens now. I don’t have a single thing that I’m passionate about. I am no crazy workout model either. My default “workout” if I do nothing else is that I will always go for a 3-5 mile walk minimum daily. Usual workouts:
Pilates (mat and reformer) Swimming Outdoor biking Peloton Weight lifting Stair stepper at gym Yoga Dance Hiking If I can’t get to any of those, I walk. I do minimum 30 minutes but usually more. I vary it up all the time. If I’m not feeling it, I don’t force exercise. Some days are just mellower days and that’s ok. Like I’d rather just watch a TV show while climbing the Eiffel Tower slowly, and it’s okay to go slow and steady, that’s better than nothing. |
I workout from 5-6, as I agree getting it done before work is the best thing to do. But pp works out twice a day if not more, which is a bit much for most working people with obligations. |
Question for those who work out from 5-6am, when do you go to bed? Sleep is as important as exercise. |
Age 56. Pilates reformer 4x/week. Love it but I know I need to do lifting and aerobic work as well and I just am choosing not to fit them in. 2 kids at home who need to be driven to school in am, which makes some morning classes v difficult. |
I exercise 5x/week but very short workouts. The days I work from home I do a combination of HIIT and yoga (30-40 min max). The days I work at the office I bike (1 hour), and that is my commute. That’s t, short and sweet. |
I agree. They just don't work for me. If you're able to get in 4-5 workouts a week, the total body stuff just doesnt seem to make sense to me. But its important to remember: the best type of workout is the one you will actually do. So if it works for others, more power to them |
Barre for me also! I started exercising at 28 so about 10 years ago. I tried treadmill and a few other types of exercise classes and barre is the only thing I enjoyed enough to stick to. I am pretty clumsy but I am able to follow the moves in barre with no issue. |
