Ummmm no. ECNL Florida and Arizona have more coaches than GA finals. If you are in Ecnl winning is not the object. It is getting seen by and committing to college. So no you would rather be in a mid Ecnl team where every kid commits as opposed to an even top ga team. GA is great. No one is mad that syc got it. They are a good club and will do well with it. It does offer an opportunity for a number of people. Good addition to local soccer. Good option. But let’s don’t go crazy. You might have picked FCV over Ecnl in the past but now if you had the choice and can get to one of the clubs you would be better off on an Ecnl club. |
Yeah for older groups. For 2012 and 2013s it would be wise to play for the best with the best. |
Yes they do. Over 100 coaches at most Florida and Arizona Ecnl games. Even if both are under .500. They could care less about the team. Looking only at the player they are there to see. Two years ago coach told DD at an event that her team sucked. Offer came shortly after. Every girl on that Ecnl team had a commit. 80% plus were p5 D1s or high academic D1s and D3s. |
Good for them! Hope it was a full ride and not a crappy 20% of a scholarship |
"a crappy 20% of a scholarship"??? Tell us you know nothing about college recruiting and scholarships without saying you know nothing about it. D1 women's soccer is allowed 14 scholarships per team. Those 14 are usually split across most of the team. Very few players ever receive a full ride. |
| ECNL is likely trying to do a quick takedown of GA because ECNL boys is sinking fast. Forcing clubs like PDA, Delco, Tampa United out of boys ECNL because they had their top teams in MLS Next just weakened their league and makes the remaining stronger clubs realize their boys are in the wrong league. ECNL may be able to add some big names - eg Nationals, TopHat - but if GA can weather that and bring in more clubs that are MLS Next on the boys side (eg SYC), they’ll survive and probably strengthen in a few years. |
This is the best way this whole thing has been put. MLS next smelled blood and was getting ready to fully take over boys soccer. ECNL said not so fast… |
| Clearly some of you are in lala land on this GA trip. My guess it’s all of the SYC patents trying to rationalize dropping from ECNL to GA. The numbers don’t lie on college placement so stop kidding yourselves. Best of luck to all of the girls finding a great club, having fun and enjoying the game. By the way, FCV players are going everywhere. We had 4 of their players at our practices this week trying out and I’ve yet to see one of them that can compete at the ECNL level. |
I've seen about 30-40 coaches at the GA final. I've seen way more at ECNL showcases for mid-tier teams. |
Probably because over 200 teams attend showcases? Lmao. |
How do you think the rest of this plays out |
ECNL ends GA and MLSNext ends ECNL Boys. ECNL only added boys when GDA became a thing and it was ECNL's answer to boys who wanted to play high level soccer while being allowed to play High School soccer. ECNL girls remained intact by allowing high school soccer that DA prohibited. |
As a 2012 parent of a top player in the second team you better believe if we don’t bump to the top team when they go to 11v11 next year, we will scout. |
GA wont completely end but it will be stripped of its best clubs. as for ecnl boys, I think the same will happen. What happens to clubs with great girls and boys ecnl programs that may want to switch the boys to mls next? Do you think ecnl lets the girls teams walk? |
| a big nice game of chess is being played by 3 different leagues here. |
