Agree, but there is some element of being able to use your core that is exercise and can fatigue you faster when done correctly. |
Ok I looked up at "10 minute plank" and it's a whole lot of movement. Down dog to plank, walk out planks, side plank, it's not on elbows the whole time. That's not what some of us are imagining. Hardly as impressive as it seems. |
1 minute at age 50 F.
I notice if i do some push ups on the stairs, i can make my arm stronger to endure the planking longer a bit. |
Im one of the people that can do 10 minutes. It's on my elbows the whole time. Not what you're describing. |
Google 10 min plank and see what comes up. A bunch of not really planking which makes this whole thing really suspect. Sure I can roll around on my arms for 10 minutes. |
On your elbows is way different than arms straight under you. |
Please show me a video of what you're talking about. |
Please post a video of you doing 10 minutes on your elbows. |
You're not doing a full plank! ![]() |
The question was "how long can you hold a plank." It didn't distinguish between low and full. I already said multiple times that I can do 10 minutes in my elbows. I wasn't trying to win some competition. That's just what I can do. Maybe OP found it helpful, maybe she didn't. It's all the same to me. |
This thread is hilariously dumb. Doing a plank is good for core strength. It’s not a reflection of much if you are training for it specifically. The world record is 9 hours and 38 minutes.
The purpose is to supplement core strength for other things. Like riding aggressive bikes outside - you know doing actual enjoyable things. |
Ok, those who say they can do longer than 3-4 minutes, which muscles give out? Mine are quads that give out first. |
Me too. Quads start shaking first. |
How long can you dead hang from a pull up bar? How long can you do a wall sit? How long can you hold 5 pound weights straight out to the sides? How long can you hold a glute bridge? |
Actually, "they" tell you not to bother holding for that long. But I do see the bragging rights, as seen above! |
