If you are relatively fit, how long can you hold a plank?

59, male.

Normal is 6 to 8 minutes. If I get challenged, 15. My record is 21.

No idea, I’ve done 5 minutes, but could do more with an elbow plank. I would stop sooner with a straight arm plank because I have a bad elbow and would regret it. I’ve always had a strong core and shoulders. 40 y/o and a former swimmer who does a lot of yoga now.

57M I always do them at the end of workouts so I am not sure how long. I have done 2 mins at the end of the workout so I think 5-7 if I was fresh and people were watching.

High plank or low plank?

I just did this for the first time in my life and made it past 2 minutes, probably could have done 3 if you held a gun to my head. They look easier than they are when you Google “plank!”

I am not fit at the moment (postpartum with diastasis recti). 37. Just did the first plank I’ve done in a long time for 1 minute. Im a yoga teacher so in general accustomed to planks and can hold them longer…when not postpartum

This may be correct but: no. I do planks out of obligation only and no way am I going to make it harder for myself.

But, when you just try to hold for a minute or two or whatever, I'm sure your form towards the end is poor and you aren't getting all the benefits. Plus, squeeze and get done in 20-30 seconds instead of 1-2 minutes.

This is a good question. I assumed a plank was always low - on forearms. I think I could prob hold a high plank a lot longer (I’m the 2min PP)
