Wtf?

Lol, the pg pool arrogance is astounding

The arrogance of those who think they are entitled to join a private pool is the epitome of arrogance.

The arrogance of out of state pool members who are shocked there’s a petition circulating around town to tax this private pool.

Get real. Are you suggesting that out of state people should avoid PGC for fear that PGC will go after them for some BS treatment. That is a great way to attract businesses and investments into PGC. I will take my money elsewhere.

I never heard of this pool before so I looked it up. I think this is the place that everyone is posting about: https://pgpool.org/

If so, wow. First off, why would non-whites want to join a pool that has (a) such a racist history, and (b) is a dump? It's like clamoring o get access to an old Arby's owned by Tommy Tubberville.

Second, taxing it is silly. The county or city or whoever should shut it down because of blight. This land could be a wonderful development, not a bunch of concrete poured into the ground and then not maintained by some legacy racists.

Now I'm going back to my wonderful parks w/ pools in Arlington now.

^^^ And this is why we don’t live in Arlington!

Again, what is up w/ the sanctimonious members of the PG Pool? I don't even know where this weird racist pool is located, but I want to say as far away as possible from it's members. -Arlington Resident

You are living in la la land if you think Arlington pools don't have the exact same racist history. PG pool has acknowledged it at least, which is why there is more to read about it online.

Is the waitlist open to anyone, regardless of color?

Number 35 was added to the WL in 2014, while numbers 600-800 joined the WL in 2017. The great news here is that there is a clear opportunity here for someone to build a new pool in PGC. PGC has plenty of space. Someone should seize the opportunity.

Pools barely break even that’s why they aren’t built anymore. Most of the area pools are 50+ years old.

Of course

So what’s the problem? Are they not letting certain waitlist people in when there number is next?

We have Arlington posters that came here just to disparage Maryland. Again. It’s like some sort of personality disorder.

I am confident working with maybe the YMCA or another nonprofit that, between maybe some PGC money, bank loan, and commitments from, say, 500 potential members, a pool could be built and opened.

Must be a conspiracy why it hasn’t happened then.

Gosh yeah. No one has thought of that.

Not a member but from the website it seems like a normal pool (and not particularly dumpy though no country club). In the photos, there seem to be people of different races. I'm confused.

Cheverly and PG pool are the most accessible private pools to Capitol Hill. As the hill population grew those private pools became very popular and filled to capacity. That’s all that happened. The pools in the suburbs also have waitlists that are years long. I don’t know why this is made into a racial issue every year.

It's funny how all these pool members just do not address the racism issue. Oh, I'm from NOVA and have no interest in joining what looks like a dumpy pool.

How do you know it’s dumpy(in fact, it isn’t) … or is that just your racist assumption because it’s in PGC?
