Factually true. But that discriminatory history no longer applies to the PG Pool, and has not for decades.

Wtf?

Lol, the pg pool arrogance is astounding

The arrogance of those who think they are entitled to join a private pool is the epitome of arrogance.

The arrogance of out of state pool members who are shocked there’s a petition circulating around town to tax this private pool.

Why would a private pool be tax-exempt?

So, whoever decides to buy private property in PGC must understand that all others in PGC are entitled to use that property simply because they want to. Get a life!!

Not when the County sells it to you for a few bucks for the purpose of opening a segregated pool in what would eventually become a majority black county. You sound like those progressive racists at PG Pool.

About fourteen years ago it was very easy for anyone to join the PG pool. In fact, the pool members were looking for more people to join and help with maintenance thru work days. Cheverly and PG pool are the most accessible private pools to Capitol Hill. As the hill population grew those private pools became very popular and filled to capacity. That’s all that happened. The pools in the suburbs also have waitlists that are years long. I don’t know why this is made into a racial issue every year.

It's funny how all these pool members just do not address the racism issue. Oh, I'm from NOVA and have no interest in joining what looks like a dumpy pool.

what is arrogant about a private people that clearly a 1,000 people are willing to get waitlisted to join? and its color blind waitlisting. I am white and upper class and I posted earlier about being on the waitlist since 2017!

maybe the latter should join the waitlist like we did? just a thought

The majority black county should join a waitlist?

Yes. The wait list is open to the public. Anyone can join. It currently does not discriminate in any way.

The pool is located at the meeting point of three jurisdictions: DC, PG and Montgomery county, just blocks away from the border of each. Thus it draws people from all over.

PG Pool is the epitome of hypocritical white, privileged, progressives. It's really gross.

So what do you propose as the most equitable way to manage membership other than open to anyone? And, I assume you think all pools operating in the manner of PG pool are wrong?

People in PG County should be thanking us for saving this pool from bankruptcy.

And maybe they can clean up all the corruption and crime over there too.

Even more reason to tax this racist pool.

So, your proposal is to tax all private pools.

The PG Pool is, in fact, taxed. You're welcome.

its crazy. We need more pools in the area. I got an email from PG Pool with my updated wailist number. I am now #35. When I did I join the waitlist?-2017
So you are likely not getting in and now I doubt we would use the pool if we ever did get in.
I heard folks are able to get into the Adelphi pool though, so look into that.

I signed up in 2017 and am in the 800s. Lucky!

Someone is wrong. No one who joined in 2017 is #35. Here's the current list which shows what year each number joined the list.

It's hilarious to me that you think the pool isn't taxed.

Oh the irony! Said by the same Marylander who will drive into DC every day to work and play without paying a red cent in income tax. But thanks for all your traffic violence and road pollution!

Number 35 was added to the WL in 2014, while numbers 600-800 joined the WL in 2017. The great news here is that there is a clear opportunity here for someone to build a new pool in PGC. PGC has plenty of space. Someone should seize the opportunity.
