Is SCOTUS not a branch of govt? I am confused |
| My single issue is attempting a coup. So no republicans sorry. |
Removing birth citizenship and going with citizenship like most sane developed 1st world countries have. Not allowing undocumented children into schools E-verify for all labor. Extraordinarily high fines for people who rent to undocumented immigrants/require.proof of citizenship or legal stay to be able to rent Require citizenship or legal residence proof for all utilities. Remove the ability to obtain a driver's license without proof of legal residence or citizenship Disallow all banking without proof of citizenship or legal residency It's simple really. When you make it difficult to live in the country illegally, people will stop coming. Who is going to come to the US to live illegally if you can't drive, can't live anywhere, can't turn on the lights, cannot use banking when society keeps moving to cashless transactions, and you cannot send your kids to schools? Make life impossible. |
I appreciate you proving my point. Familiarize yourself with the asylum laws. Be sure to read about defensive asylum claims for those who cross the border illegally. Congress needs to change the laws and add courts. |
I can get behind these. Except not sure about excluding the kids from schools. Do we really want a bunch of unsupervised kids running around, left at home, roaming the streets, whatever. That harms the entire community. Not just the immigrants and their children. |
Actually laws matter a great deal to me. I have watched for decades how Republicans refuse to allow any increases in LEGAL immigration. They fought against DREAMERS and any other proposal to allow for more legal immigration. If you are sooo concerned about laws and not about immigration itself then there is a very simple way to solve your problem. Call up your Republican representative and demand more pathways towards legal immigration. This simple test is how you know the true motivations of those screeching hysterically about the border. |
I think this is a great idea and we need to expand it to include people who don't pay their taxes. So: Children cannot go to school unless you provide certificate from IRS certifying you are current on all taxes Employers cannot hire you until they run your name thru an IRS database of tax cheats Landlords cannot rent to you until they run your name thru an IRS database of tax cheats (with high fines for landlords that don't) Utility companies cannot hook up service until they run your name thru an IRS database of tax cheats No driver's licenses until DMV runs your name thru an IRS database of tax cheats Banks close accounts of all tax cheats Huge increase in IRS budget to make sure we catch and have an accurate list of the tax cheats It's simple really. When you make it difficult to live in the country without paying taxes, people will stop cheating on them. Who is going to cheat on their taxes, if you can't drive, can't live anywhere, can't turn on the lights, cannot use banking when society keeps moving to cashless transactions, and you cannot send your kids to schools? Make life impossible. |
If they were so concerned about laws, they would be apoplectic about the Trump Administration raping of our laws and the seditious coup attempt, alas. |
I completely agree with this. I don't like illegal immigration either. But the only way to get the problem to a manageable level where the border patrol and ICE can do their jobs is to provide an actual pathway for poor and unskilled people from Latin America and other underdeveloped countries to immigrate here. The current system lets a hot model from Slovakia immigrate easily, but a poor lady from Guatemala has no legal pathway so of course she takes the illegal or legally questionable (asylum) path because that's what's available. The republicans have refused to come to the table to reform the system, insisting on "securing the border first," which they know perfectly well is not possible (particularly the way they define it). |
Yes, let's go with the drug issue https://www.thedailybeast.com/charlottesville-tiki-torcher-teddy-joseph-von-nukem-killed-himself-before-trial |
Female reproductive rights likely to be the only other major issue motivating single issue voters. It affects half the population. |
Ah yes just put “repealing the 14th Amendment” on a list of things to do like it’s picking up the dry cleaning. Sure sign of someone who’s serious about solutions. |
I'm a moderate Democrat and could get behind these too. I do think you need to add extraordinarily high fines to those that hire illegal immigrants. Of course, as you know, farmers, slaughterhouses, and all manner of hospitality and restaurant services employ significant number of illegal immigrants. The Chamber of Commerce would absolutely howl in protest if that happened. Focus on the demand side of things rather than supply. I hate to use the analogy but it's like going after the drug dealers rather than the users. |
Can you prove that your ancestors entered this country legally? Oh, by the bye, you are truly despicable. |
Yes. There were no legal restrictions on immigration when my ancestors arrived. |
