Single Issue Voter: Controlling The Borders

Look I know you MAGA’s are just dying to hate the libs, but use your brains.
The bunch of bomb threats were called into state capitols the other day.
Posters came here to claim the “trans activists” were behind it …
Well guess what?
It was a foreign government.
Multiple local school systems when on lock down the other day. Was it a crazed white nationalist with a gun?
No. It was a foreign adversary.
Are democrats calling up migrants to storm the border?
No. But I’ll give you a guess who is….

Here another link about how Russia weaponizes migrant waves.
It’s a form of warfare.

The White House has begun to spin its disastrous record on the southwest border by falsely claiming Republicans had an “anti-border security record” and “attempt[ed] to cut Customs and Border Protection personnel.” Specifically, they claimed the House voted “to eliminate over 2,000 Border Patrol agents and erode our capacity to seize fentanyl earlier in 2023.”

But this is a debunked talking point recycled from last year that was already rated “FALSE” by Newsweek and “Mostly False” by PolitiFact. As one analyst told PolitiFact, “the White House is using fake numbers to analyze an appropriations bill that does not exist.” To be clear, the House never voted on any appropriations bill that would have cut thousands of agents from southwest border operations.

In fact, the Republican House-passed FY24 Homeland Security appropriations bill increased border security funding above the President’s Budget Request, including Border Patrol agents at the highest level ever funded, and ICE custody operations at a level more than ever previously appropriated. All but 2 House Democrats voted against that bill, and the President threatened to veto it.

Despite inadequate budget requests under President Biden, from FY22 to FY23 Congress has appropriated billions more in funds for the U.S. Border Patrol and ICE along the southwest border.

Funding for Border Patrol operations and related Southwest border requirements has increased by over $2.28B, or 47%, since FY21. Similar ICE operations funding has increased by $860M, and in FY23, Congress rejected cuts the President requested to ICE funding that would have significantly cut detention capacity and overall immigration enforcement operations.

During the same FY21 to FY23 timeframe, we have seen the average monthly encounters at our southwest border surge by over 63% annually. And the problem is only getting worse.

The President’s supplemental request is little more than misdirection and false advertising that would do little to secure the border.
Of the $14 billion request, just over $2.3 billion, or less than 17%, would actually go to Border Patrol operations. Of that funding, much of it falls within the parameters of managing the crisis – processing tents, medical services, consumables, etc. – that have little to do with actual border security and interior enforcement and more to do with processing illegal immigration into the interior as fast as possible, arguably to hide the humanitarian crisis from public view.

If a 47% increase in similar funding over the last 2 years has only led to more illegal crossings, it’s clear the latest unserious request will do little to stem the flow of illegal immigration.

In fact, a larger share of the Administration’s request, over $3 billion, would actually go to providing direct and indirect assistance to people coming here illegally, through NGOs or even direct cash assistance.

TLDR
If republicans are serious, they will negotiate a deal.

I’m just curious why we have to negotiate on the security of our borders. What are the goals of dems on the border?

I think they want to be a humane as possible.
Republicans want to secure the border with land mines.

Nothing about what is happening at the border is humane.
It is not humane to the migrants, the border agents, those who live on the border, or the American citizens at large.

Tell your buddy Putin to stop sending them, and tell your party to govern. The Democrats shouldn’t have to be the only grown up in the room.

Good God. Cut the Putin crap. It is so old and tired.
Russia doesn't have to facilitate the migrant crisis. Biden has done a mighty fine job of that on his own - his rhetoric and policies have been very migrant friendly. They know they will get in. The cartels know they will get in. Biden is doing ZILCH to stop it.
The Democrat-In-Chief is the one responsible for this crisis. I know that is hard for you to admit, but the numbers don't lie. And, we have the video and history to prove what he has said and what he has done to essentially open our borders.
He has caused this humanitarian, environmental, economic, and national security crisis with the help of his handlers.

And I didn't realize Biden could actually do that via Executive Order. WTH is stopping him?

Are you stupid? Tapper repeatedly called him Johnson out for false claims and pointed out that Johnson was completely full of crap. And Johnson could not defend himself, other than to try and shift to the next debunked deflection.

Nice try, imbecile. Johnson made no false claims and Tapper only asked clarifying questions, which Johnson answered honestly. Tapper seemed impressed too. I watched the entire interview and am now a Mike Johnson fan. Do keep lying and hoping no one calls you out, though.

Let me summarize for you.......
Biden lies when he says that Republicans want to cut 2000 agents.
Funding for DHS for border patrol operations has increased significantly over the past 2 years and border encounters have exploded.
More funding will only lead to an increase in border encounters.
Most of the funding in Biden's request is NOT for border security, but for intake, processing, housing and transporting migrants.
The only "negotiating" that should happen is that Biden should agree to take measures to secure the border and prevent migrants from entering.

+100
Even when summarized succinctly, the PP will keep repeating the same lies.

What's stopping him? That he's not in the Executive Branch, but is in the Legislative Branch?

It doesn’t have to be an EO, which can be overturned. Why doesn’t Congress overhaul our entire immigration system, which desperately needs an overhaul. They could, ya know, pass legislation…what they’re elected to do!!

Actually, it doesn't need overhauling. It needs you jackasses to ENFORCE the immigration system currently in place.

I realize you want to lawfare everything when you don't like written policy, but don't f'n whine when the other side does the same.

Whether or not any of this is actually true, how do you think the U.S. should react to massive waves of migrants? Let them in? Or secure the damn border? And who is responsible for securing the border? Biden could do it with the stroke of a pen. Democrats could pass the Republican led border bill - but they won't, because it's "too extreme." Meanwhile, the millions and millions of illegal immigrants who have entered our country while Biden has been president have exceeded all historic numbers, and show no signs of stopping.

Yes, it's actually true that Russia does this. But why is this only on Democrats? Democrats have been trying to pass bills to improve security and to deal with the flood of migrants but keep getting obstructed by Republicans, who are all about "going to the border" for a photo op but then don't work on JACK SHIT to actually solve anything in Congress.
