“The bottom line is the (TJ) policy was adopted in order to, frankly, reduce the number of Asian Americans that were attending Thomas Jefferson,” Sen. Chap Petersen said. “And all you have to do is look at all the public comments that were being made at the time.”

You do realize this was already illegal? And nobody used race as a factor.

Try to understand proxy discrimination, you racist dumbass!

Providing access to kids who don't go to wealthy middle schools is really horrible.

Except that you didn’t.

That is exactly what the new plan does.

No. What the new plan did was to discriminate Asian Americans as ruled by the federal court. This is also confirmed by the VA house bill that was just passed.

The new process opened seats to unqualified kids across FCPS -- even low-income middle schools. TJ is a governor school - it wasn't set aside for racial discriminations.

The admitted applicants are qualified. GPA was higher than previous classes.

The process shouldn't support discrimination against race or income. When only 0.6% of a class is economically-disadvantaged you know there is a problem.

Your lies have been debunked numerous times in this forum. Repeating lies won't make them true.

Sorry you have trouble with basic facts:
"The average GPA for applicants (3.9074) is slightly higher this year than it has been in the past five years. "
"Economically disadvantaged students increased from 0.62% (2020-21) to 25.09%."
"Students from historically underrepresented schools increased from 5.56% (2020-21) to 30.73%."
"In the last 10 years, this is the first time all FCPS middle schools had students who were accepted into TJ. "

The new process opened seats to kids across FCPS -- even low-income middle schools. TJ is a regional resource - it wasn't set aside for a few wealthy middle schools.

The seats were already open to those students. FCPS just decided to ignore merit and set aside seats to students more likely to be Black, Hispanic or low-income, while making clear the intent was to reduce Asian enrollment, in violation of the Constitution.

Except it wasn't really based on "merit". It was "how rich are your parents?"

No they just don’t pander to a particular group for political gain.

Literally pandered to Asians for political gain on the belief that they are single-issue education voters

As an Asian with school-age children, no one had to pander to me. I see the racists being racist towards me and my children. I will vote for people who fight against systemic racism, as has been implemented by FCPS school board.

The same thing happened in Sweden where they went whole hog down that path and had to implement drastic changes because their society was going down the toilet. Eventually, people figure out that some ideologies are untenable.

The FCPS School Board is basically an entry-level job for budding state politicians. People have seen just how terrible the current crop of left-wing aspirants are and want to make sure none of them do any further damage. They are despicable, petty, low-IQ trash.

DP. The GPA for the class of 2025 is not comparable to the GPA for any other class. The class of 2025 had virtual learning starting in March of 7th grade. This meant As for almost everyone for that semester. Then, the first half of 8th grade was also entirely virtual with FCPS giving tons of "grace," meaning that kids who showed up and put in a modicum of effort got As. On top of that, it was exceptionally easy for kids to cheat. The same kids "earning" 3.9s in covid times might have only earned 3.5s or lower in real school.

On top of that, there's no evidence that 25.09% of the class of 2025 is actually economically disadvantaged. That percentage of the kids checked the box for receiving free meals, but technically anyone could truthfully check the box.

As I said, people have debunked this many times. Are you dumb or blind? I guess both.
The watered-down GPAs can never distinguish the students that TJ truly needs. The TJ reform intentionally eliminated the TJ entrance exam and teacher's recommendations, the top 2 measures for one's potential and suitability for TJ.

You may disagree on interpretation, but these are FACTS.

MORE kids from low-income middle schools.
MORE kids from low-income families.

And they were all "qualified".

Yes, I wonder how many parents cheated on the lunch question. I wonder which parents would do this.

Regardless, the # of ED students is certainly MORE than 0.6%. More than a handful of kids.

And it doesn't matter they're low income if they're unqualified.
