School or no school - that is the question? Sending my child to school to find out the answer (luckily he’s a walker).

Don’t send your kid. They are closed for instruction.

This is the reaction from teachers and staff. I would be happy too for a no work pay day. Unfortunately, I have to pay for childcare and drive through rain today. Same for most MCPS parents.

The text still says "tomorrow, Jan 20th". It's the same message from last night and someone accidently sent it out again.

Yeah no

Seriously, why not? HS kids have lost so much instruction time and kids have major end of quarter tests today. If 16 schools are virtual anyway with no advanced notice, there is ZERO reason MCPS as a whole cannot be virtual today.

Now the majpr tests will be tomorrow.

If it could, MCPS would close schools due to sunshine. Today's closure is more about COVID than the anything else.

From the capital weather gang

From our 8:20a update: "...this increasingly seems more like a snow bust than a snow burst."

Thanks to their virtual BS in the beginning part of the month, and snow days, my son has been in school for a total of 2 days this month. This is awful. We will be looking elsewhere for schooling next year.
