Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
Mcps has changed it to closed school
|
| It is a win for HS kids. Get to sleep in and finish any missing assignments |
| We barely have had school this month! |
|
I know!! It doesn't help that school is also closed on Monday.
Right now it is raining in Silver Spring. Ugh. |
Not a win for working families and students trying to recover from the last year of virtual. It’s raining. It’s not snowing. Not a much chance of accumulation. This is ludicrous. The forecast had predicted as much. https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2022/01/20/dc-maryland-virginia-snow-burst/ |
| It’s absurd. At least make it an all virtual day like FCPS apparently has. |
Yeah no |
| I live in far north Hinterlands and NO snow just rain. Wtf? These kids stay home all day for rain to melt last snow?? This county has big problems. This is the icing on a shitstack. I should have gotten the house across the street in Frederick county. |
Fredrick County is also closed today. |
| 725a: Starting to see some reports of rain changing to snow along I-81 and in W Loudoun as well as northern Maryland...It will take a couple of hours but it will snow right when kids were getting to school. Good call by mcps! |
Seriously, why not? HS kids have lost so much instruction time and kids have major end of quarter tests today. If 16 schools are virtual anyway with no advanced notice, there is ZERO reason MCPS as a whole cannot be virtual today. |
Which is also closed today. |
MCPS will never go virtual for all schools for any reason. The Covid crazies would jump on that ASAP and say “see how easy it is to go virtual?!? Now let’s do this for two weeks until the virus is under control!” Not gonna happen. |
| Serious question. Why is it that they only have delays but never consider an earlier start. Today would have been ideal to have an early start. Everyone would have been in the buildings before the snow started. |
| You really can’t start the high schools any earlier. The high school buses are needed for the elementary runs. |
