Because Hogan prefers putting his constituents safety and wellbeing at risk with subpar healthcare, in the hope that most of them won't realize they were at risk all this while, and vote for him for Senator, because they're just happy he didn't close anything and let them get on with their lives.

I loathe elected officials who gamble on their voters' stupidity.

But you voted for Biden. Lol.

Oh man you're clever.

Nobody wants anything to shut down again (it's not realistic long term anyway) so why doesn't Hogan just restrict indoor dining, gyms, etc to those who are vaccinated? That's what Chicago is doing. Maybe if these people had actual consequences, they'd go get vaccinated.

I wish Hogan was more proactive, but in truth, these mandates put the burden on businesses to implement and enforce, which is a big ask. Not only that, but NYC has all of these mandates, and it doesn't seem to be stopping transmission at all.

Because of the mandates, I noticed all my NYC friends were very confident about going to restaurants, Broadway shows, etc. Most of them also got covid.

Whereas me, hiding in my house for the month of December? No covid.

I'm not judging, I am just tired.

You're missing that most people, without a mandate, have done these things without a mask! Please don't insinuate that mask mandates spread more virus. That is untrue.

Mask mandates don't spread the virus. Masks work very well. However, thinking that you have magic immunity when you take your mask off to eat in a restaurant is magical thinking.

New York restaurants require vax proof for indoor dining. (Although I don't think they actually could mandate that the staff get vaxxed. Dining and kitchen staff in NYC have no rights whatsoever and turnover has always been ridiculous... Not to mention the number of undocumented...

I'm not blaming the waitstaff. Quite the contrary: they are held hostage by a bunch of diners who think being vaccinated made them immune and not infectious.

And are your friends fine? I bet they are.

Most of them are fine. Some of them it's a bit early to tell. One of them already had a five year old with heart damage from mis-c.

Considering how people who have been double vaccine booster are getting infected that doesn’t really support your argument that New York restaurants are safe now does it?

Remember when he said in July during one of his many pressers to get vaccinated that if you got the vaccine you wouldn’t get Covid? That didn’t age well.

What a delightful couple months we had at the beginning of summer, pre-delta, pre-omicron. Alas.

It’s crazy how much such a small group of people unreasonably hate Hogan. All just because he doesn’t have a D next to his name.

That would help drive home to the people who are out partying how serious this is. We also need a temporary resumption of some emergency benefits

AMEN!
I am totally flabergasted at all the calls to shut down schools while the rest of the world keeps on spinning.

Good luck with that. It’s increasingly pediatric hospitalizations that are the problem.

And for those who don’t care about Michigan kids - the worst outcome happened in your home region

Exactly. Vaccine passports don’t making anything safer. Not a damn thing.

You can be vaccinated and boosted and you can still catch and transmit Covid. As we are seeing in NYC.

Vaccine passports definitely don’t make the staff safer.

No. I posted earlier to say that I was unhappy with any elected official who did a poor job containing viral spread. And you know what that means? Practically all of them. They're all incompetent idiots because they can't bring themselves to bring down the hammer fast enough with Covid restrictions to nip spread in the bud early enough, so that hospitals aren't too overwhelmed. They don't have the political guts, none of them. They wait until their voters see the consequences of inaction before implementing minimal measures, in order to preserve political capital. And all the sheep are happy that they can go about their day as normal... meanwhile those who need hospital care are left out in the cold, and states record thousands of excess deaths.

It's sickening. If we were truly a civilized society, we'd be happy to live with some restrictions during the worse of the surges, and socialize as normal when cases are low. But no. We can't have nice things because everything is done too late, and we never learn for the next variant.

So yes, Hogan is Covid-incompetent, not because he's a Republican, but because he's a political animal like the rest of them.

Correct. I hate him because he is a republican. I hate ALL republicans. Period.

Not really sure why this perplexes people like you.
