I don't think it will include school closings, even temporary ones.

On CNN on Sunday, Hogan said they were already doing everything they could to prevent hospitalizations and deaths. Funny how in a day, they came up with some additional measures apparently not included in "everything."

I thought we had heard all of the updates yesterday:

Hogan pulled the wool over people’s eyes.
He’s more like Trump than we want to admit. He seemed ok because he occasionally showed some common sense but we were kidding ourselves if we thought any of his decisions weren’t determined purely by future political aspirations.

He did indeed:

TODAY’S COVID-19 ACTIONS

Face Covering Requirement For State Buildings. Beginning Jan. 3, 2022, face coverings will be required for employees and visitors in all state buildings and leased space in all public or shared spaces.

Paid Leave For Booster Shots. To encourage booster shots among all eligible state employees, the state will be providing two hours of paid leave for any employee who receives a booster. This benefit will apply retroactively: employees who present proof of receiving a booster will receive the leave. All employers are encouraged to offer paid leave for vaccinations and booster shots.

Updated Quarantine Protocols for State Employees. The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) and Maryland Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has issued updated guidance to state agencies and offices adopting new CDC guidance on quarantine protocols for state employees, and allowing agency heads discretion to implement telework and hybrid work schedules for applicable employees while maintaining operations to continue serving Marylanders. Front-facing agency services will continue to remain open.

Seems pretty thorough -- what else could be done?

Disagree. (and for context I'm a liberal democrat who can't stand Trump.) I know some other left-leaning people who worked with him and said he is generally a decent person. I dislike some of Hogan's political moves, but I bet it's not accurate to lump him in with Trump in terms of gross self centeredness.

“The truth is — the next four to six weeks will be the most challenging time of the pandemic”

Wait,what??

He's NOT a good Governor. He should reinstate the mask mandate and order restrictions for bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues. This should be the absolute minimum.

Washington Post did a report on how he hid that the half-million Korean tests he got to great fanfare last year did not actually work. He uses a private messaging app with content that self-destructs in 24hours to communicate with staff on sensitive topics, contrary to Open Records laws. He used that app to pressure his staff not to talk about those tests, and not hide that the state currently does not have enough testing capacity, even though he claims it does.

Larry Hogan is not insane like Trump. But "better than Trump" should not be our bar, correct?

SO far:

Over next few weeks, MD could see 5,000 hospitalizations. He declared 30 day emergency.

1,000 Maryland National Guard members are being mobilized to assist with opening 20 new testing sites outside Maryland hospitals in order to meet rising demand for testing and to divert people away from visiting emergency rooms for COVID tests.

Calls on Biden to increase access to monoclonal antibodies.

Expresses gratitude to healthcare workers and moves to the general to talk about National Guard.
