All Republican governors are trying to score points whining about the lack of therapies available as if that's a supply issue with the Feds and not in part due to most therapies not *working* with Omicron.
I think there's three antibody drugs and only one, the newest, works on this variant, right? |
I wish Hogan was more proactive, but in truth, these mandates put the burden on businesses to implement and enforce, which is a big ask. Not only that, but NYC has all of these mandates, and it doesn't seem to be stopping transmission at all. |
1) It's not about stopping transmission, it's about keeping people out of the hospitals, which vaccinations do. 2) I agree it is an onus on employees, but that's better than the business closing and they aren't working at all. |
Two, I believe, but the problem is, they were approved recently, and you can't just magically wave your wand and have tons of pill ready in time for overwhelmed hospital staff to use today. Yes, it's complete passing of the buck. Apparently Republican Governors think it's OK to have loads of unvaccinated and/or to fight against mask mandates and closures of any kind, but it will be Biden's fault for not getting pills to patients! They're all just complete shite. Hogan had a veneer of decency when it suited him, but he's running for Senate and needs to have something to campaign with. |
Large, super-dense metropoles will never win against such a rapidly-spreading virus unless you shut it ALL down in time - which New Yorkers would not agree to. They're in trouble not matter what they do. Less dense areas with good hospital coverage, like our region, could totally implement mask mandates and closures to de-saturate hospitals. And rural areas have to be careful, because even though viral spread is much slower, their issue is hospital capacity - as soon as their local gets overwhelmed, they're done. So you really need to implement measures based on your urban density proportionally to your hospital capacity. |
Because of the mandates, I noticed all my NYC friends were very confident about going to restaurants, Broadway shows, etc. Most of them also got covid. Whereas me, hiding in my house for the month of December? No covid. I'm not judging, I am just tired. |
You're missing that most people, without a mandate, have done these things without a mask! Please don't insinuate that mask mandates spread more virus. That is untrue. |
It is the main form of transmission. This defies logic that there is no mask mandate. |
And are your friends fine? I bet they are. |
| Glad for all the measures announced - but they are all upstream, why can’t something as simple as MASKS be part of lessening the upstream emergencies? |
He did. He declared the emergency order which allows them to close schools. Of course HE isn't announcing schools closing because 1. That's political suicide. Passing the buck is better and 2. The hospitalization and deaths are unvaccinated. |
Because Hogan prefers putting his constituents safety and wellbeing at risk with subpar healthcare, in the hope that most of them won't realize they were at risk all this while, and vote for him for Senator, because they're just happy he didn't close anything and let them get on with their lives. I loathe elected officials who gamble on their voters' stupidity. |
Except when you slip on the ice today. |
But you voted for Biden. Lol. |
Way to miss the point 👉 |
