lol and very quiet about the state of schools....

Right? If these are going to be the worst weeks bc it’s much more contagious- how does lunch happen safely? Spaced out indoor lunch with omicron doesn’t mitigate risk.

Don't worry. Your school will be on the red list soon enough.

The morons are causing the problems, not shockingly.

Hogan says following this news conference, he will be on a call with the White House. The Governor is calling on the Biden administration to take immediate action to:

  • Increase distribution of monoclonal antibodies

  • Expedite approval of more rapid tests and increase production/distribution

  • Expedite production/allocation of COVID antiviral pills

  • Governor Hogan said, “It’s important for Marylanders to go back to using common sense and doing the things that will keep us safe: avoiding crowds, keeping your distance, washing your hands, and yes—once again—wearing the damn masks.”

    SO far:

Over next few weeks, MD could see 5,000 hospitalizations. He declared 30 day emergency.

1,000 Maryland National Guard members are being mobilized to assist with opening 20 new testing sites outside Maryland hospitals in order to meet rising demand for testing and to divert people away from visiting emergency rooms for COVID tests.

Calls on Biden to increase access to monoclonal antibodies.

Expresses gratitude to healthcare workers and moves to the general to talk about National Guard.

FYI, the emergency declaration PROTECTS HOSPITALS FROM BEING SUED FOR ADVERSE OUTCOMES, because they are operating at catastrophic standards. This was a request from hospitals themselves, who know they cannot provide adequate care. This affects you and me if we get into a car accident on icy roads, for example, or have a heart attack or stroke.

Hogan refuses to put in place measures that could reduce the number of people flooding hospitals, and this is one of the consequences.

    He is acting extremely irresponsibly.

    x1000

It's time to restrict care for those not vaxxed by choice.

Not vaccinated by choice? Great. Now the consequence of that choice is that you get treatment in a tent outside of the hospital by a retiree with expired credentials or a student nurse/doctor. Enjoy.

Those who have taken this pandemic seriously, worn masks, gotten vaccinated, and gotten boosters should not have to be terrified of an injury from slipping on the ice. Or their kid breaking a bone. Or their elderly relative having a medical emergency.

My SIL is now playing the waiting game to see if my nephew's ACL repair surgery is canceled with this announcement since elective surgeries can be called off and an ACL repair is considered elective.

To keep schools safely open, the Governor continues to encourage parents to get more school-aged children vaccinated. Okay, and then?

He's punting to Biden and not enforcing the actual damn mask-wearing, or any other useful safety measure.

We need only one metric: hospitalizations are the highest they've ever been, and Hogan is out to lunch.

He is NOT going to become Senator with that record.

Healthcare workers don't want your thanks, Hogan! Saying thanks and refusing to enforce any kind of meaningful restriction is like a slap in the face. It's incredibly offensive.

They want closures so they can actually provide care, instead of messing up through sheer exhaustion and killing patients.

It's going to help him at the polls, not hurt him. Omicron is going to be a distance memory by then.

Yes Hogan. Let people determine for themselves. No tyrant.

That would help drive home to the people who are out partying how serious this is. We also need a temporary resumption of some emergency benefits

    Go away.

No. People are stupid and shouldn't determine public health for themselves.

Nobody wants anything to shut down again (it's not realistic long term anyway) so why doesn't Hogan just restrict indoor dining, gyms, etc to those who are vaccinated? That's what Chicago is doing. Maybe if these people had actual consequences, they'd go get vaccinated.
