Girls Academy Showcase

If they don't have the talent the league and the team, etc. does not matter. I watched ECNL-RL boys teams from VA outplay ECNL (real ECNL, not ECN-RL) boys teams from NC this past weekend down at CASL. There is plenty of talent not in GA or ECNL out there and if they are taught how to recruit the school that is at the right level for them they will find a place and be able to make an impact there. The league does not really matter at all.

You heard it here first - league doesn't matter

Let's put that theory to the test

Anyone mind pulling up CCL commits and comparing them to ECNL?

Or perhaps EDP commits to Boys DA

It's very naive to think the ECNL has all the best girls. Some girls that could be starting at ECNL clubs do not play in ECNL for a variety of reasons.

Still doesn't matter. As a whole there may be a larger # of commits in ECNL over say CCL, ECNL-RL, GA, etc. The point is that there is plenty of talent out there and ECNL is not the thing that matters. There are plenty of ECNL players that are not great players. There are plenty of ECNL-RL players that are wonderful players. The point is that it is all about the player's ability. I know of plenty of ECNL players that colleges wanted no part of. Just because they were in ECNL does not make them great. It is still about the player at the end of the day.

The good teams in this area have almost 100 percent commitments from their senior classes. 90 percent D1. League matters

You folks are missing the point. Clearly, there is talent outside of ECNL. The question is whether GA is an elite league. The answer is, no. The other question is whether or not the league has legs and my guess is that it does not. It is nothing more than a national version of CCL.

If FCV was not in the GA, no one in this area would think twice about it.

2. Duke, UVA, etc are not going to Cali to find talent. They already know who they are recruting.

And yet... they are attending. How bizarre. Maybe you should call them and tell them not to go. Lots of Cali kids on ACC teams. Look at rosters before posting your ignorance.

Says the GA parent with 50% fewer colleges attending

Lmfao considering I said “I don’t have a dog in this” since I don’t have a child playing in either.

You selectively chose a few states. Guess what, lots of West coast coaches were at the CA GA showcase. Guess what else, each of these leagues schedules regional showcases to make it easier for college coaches to make it showcases that are more convenient to them.

And if you are a mid-Atlantic player who wants to play in the mid-Atlantic, you really don’t need to go to TN or CA to get recruited.

Give it a rest. Both leagues provide good opportunities for players to play at a higher level and to boost their likelihood of being recruited.

I like your confidence. You state your opinion like it's fact; which it's not.

But you're an outside observer....so you know.

I assure you that the GA did not sechede a west coast showcase for the benefit of east coast schools which is where 99 percent of east coast kids will be attending.

I chooses those locations because they are border states where the majority of the kids from this area will attend college. I can do more stats if you like.

Please do.

Sure - which states would you like..North Dakota, Idaho? Lol

Instead of focusing on East Coast schools (which will be more represented in TN) or West Coast schools (which will be more represented in CA), how about mid-country school? TX? NM? KS? CO? Where are they willing to travel?

Nashville TN.

Now I have a question for you - tell me the percent of VA kids playing at TX, NM, KS, CO schools - a reckon less than 5 percent - probably in the 1 percent range

Maybe that's because VA kids don't have a lot of opportunities to play in front of coaches from those schools

Not to mention the schools in VA and the East coast are much better than any NM, TX, KS, CO school. Better academic opportunities closer to home.

The poster is not ignorant - the poster is correct - UNC, UVA, Duke, etc recruit almost exclusively from the Youth National team pools. They have the top pick. They are not searching for talent like the other schools.

East coast coaches are mostly going to West coast events for the vacation and some meet/greet stuff. It is a trip paid for by their schools so they go. A nice perk. Spend the morning with the spouse and kids at Disney and then you take off and go watch parts of a few games and talk to some coach friends.

Probably right. Tuition and student fee dollars at work. It’s great that 20 year olds are taking out college loans to foot the bill for such things.

And the longer FCV stays in GA the less people will care about them.
