That's the rule. You are confusing the player requirements with the "definition" of what a team is. Those are separate issues. Look, I didn't write the rule, but it isn't vague at all. It is very clear regarding whether teams can be formed out of partnerships or alliances between two or more standalone clubs.
If a rec team formed in February with rec players and they wanted to try to qualify to play, then more power to them. But those are rec players who aren't already on a team. Personally I think it would be awesome if a team from Bethesda Rec entered, played, and won the east. What would have been best is for each of the 3 clubs: MadLax, NL, and BLC to put together their own teams with their own kids and enter as true teams - like Zingos did, for instance. Adding a kid or two for numbers I get. But forming all star teams goes directly against the spirit of the tournament - no matter who did it. The club that most closely followed the rules of the three clubs is MadLax. |

I think the rule is exactly why Black Ops added VLC to its name. People aren't that stupid though. Are the VLC coaches the head coaches for the teams?
Ultimately it doesn't matter because the rules were not followed and the tournament will go forward. I hope for the sake of the kids that no one complains when the all-star "VLC" Black Ops wins, like what has happened to MadLax in the past. |
Didn’t this club merge with Hammers? Aren’t they using an All star team and merging with Top Caliber and Team MD? Last WSYL the top PHilly clubs merged to form a team. Sorry B team mom. This is not a new thing. |
| They won’t enforce this rule because it would open a can of worms. How many teams in prior years had players from other clubs? Lots. It looks like there are many teams this year (like 20%) that have added players from other clubs specifically to compete in the World Series. Very few teams carry 25 players and if you look at the posted WSYL rosters most are filled to capacity. |

from Back of the Cage:
"That u13 Black Ops team is going to have problems though. They are an all star team and made up of at least 5 different teams players. The u14 is mainly 3 teams. But either way, there are rumblings that they will not be able to participate in the WSYL even IF they qualify.... which does not look good at the moment. It seems that there is a lot less holdback discussion at any level other than the "elite" bracket. holdbacks are killing youth lacrosse. Little goalie Johnny should dominate 2026 if he is 14/almost 15 years old when everyone else at 2026 is 12/13. Same with the monster pole "Pete" who is 6'2'' and 14 little 12 yr old attackers all over the field. The older kids should physically dominate. It is not that they are simply better, but more developed and have the advantage. Love the excuses that their kids had a stutter so they held him back....please I know, in High school it will not matter." |
| Look at the 2022 and 2023 classes the IL NLF UA rankings and ratings of top 20 top 50 ect. Is 60% or higher kids with older birthdates. This is just a fact get over it |
Sorry that you trying to keep throwing shade on this. WSYL has reviewed and approved team already. See you Saturday. |
| There is no way Black Ops would get this far without being completely sure they aren’t breaking any official rules. I believe the NL president is the head coach of u14. |
|
Yes, NL prez is the U14 VLC Black Ops head coach.
|
| Who is the Blackops U13 head coach? |
| A DC express coach is coaching the VLC BO team |
Why should we just get over it? Fix it! Not everyone wants to cheat to get ahead. |
The people who are in a position to fix it don’t want to. They benefit from the reclass process why should they fix it? |
| You're right. But Soccer eventually got it done. |
