Every Democrat should get their personal senator. Paid for by taxing the rich. |

Biden tried to cut or freeze social security at least three times when he was in the Senate. Thank God he was a failure. If you want SS to be around to "get yours" Biden is NOT your guy for the White House. |
Pretty sure the PP is just the usual dumb troll, trying to stir things up. I agree with you though. |
Honestly, other than court packing, I'm pretty sure Dems were planning to do all this crap anyways, so not sure why it would be perceived as a big threat. If Dems pack court now, red team will just pack it more later. (No, reds won't disappear forever. It's a two party system, the overreach - pushback cycle is baked into the cake.) Anyways, I have no idea what mcconnell and co will do but pretty sure they're not going to be super concerned about their political opponents threat list or some illusory promise to not enact their agenda if they don't fill the seat. Dems would just fill the seat and then go do every single thing they were planning to do anyways. |
He isn't going to try it again, and nobody thinks he will. His own caucus would eat him for lunch. But Trump would do it and Mitch McConnell will hand him the pen. |
| Democrats need to run on the fact that an unbalanced SC is a threat to healthcare during a pandemic that Trump mismanaged. Need to bring it back to Covid. The seat is gone, focus on winning the election. |

Why should California, that has 40 million people, have the same number of senators as Wyoming, that has fewer people than DC (700,000)? In fact, the population of LA is the same as about 12 states in the midwest, combined. The Dakotas were admitted as two states specifically for this reason. Either break up Calirfornia into several states, consolidate a lot of the midwest, or reform the system, but is tilts the Senate and the EC in ridiculous ways. |

It's hard to stay hopeful these days, but I'm grasping onto what I can. Dems are fired up this time, and only getting more so every day. I hope we can win. |
Haha, they irony of Trump supporters (biggest troll ever), dismissing trolls. Ahahahahahahahaha. |
| It is important to remember the long game here. The Republicans in the Senate demonstrated a total lack of principle in 2016 by refusing to allow Democrats to fill the Scalia seat. Every single Republican senator was on board, and a number of them are up for re-election for the first time since then and can be held accountable at the ballot box. Trump now is just doing his job by vetting, interviewing, and sending up a nominee to the Senate. He was not a senator in 2016 or even an elected official. McConnell would likewise be doing his job now (unlike then) by scheduling a vote as soon as he can. What happened in the past is over. There is a good chance that the Republican overreach will help Biden secure the electoral votes he needs to win (just look at the fundraising gains) and turn the Senate to Democrats, but Democrats must be careful to keep their powder dry! While it may feel good to protest, it would be counterproductive to overreact and take to the streets when a nominee is announced and/or pressure senators outside of official channels during the hearings. There needs to be some decorum or there could be a backlash against Democrats that will help Trump and Republicans in November. |
Amy Barret is a fringe religious zealot with views on women's rights and gun rights that put most of the GOP to shame. It would be a travesty for our country to have someone with such extreme views and perspective on the court. |
