We actually need these people or else face a Japan problem.

Or you know, we could make it easier and provide incentives for our citizens to have larger families.

Like universal healthcare, maternity leave, subsidized childcare, secondary education, etc?

Yes, exactly like those programs. And you cannot have open borders or an ineffective way to deport people and have those programs.

Please point out which GOP official is advocating for any of those programs. LOLOLOL!

None. But neither are democrats advocating putting meaningful restrictions on immigrants so that we can have nice things.

You are mistaken if you think people in the middle of the country would not take that deal IF controls were in place to actually deport illegal immigrants. Remember Bernie was the biggest threat before he started talking amnesty. People like the idea of universal healthcare. they dont like the idea of non-citizens taking advantage of our system.

Oh wow, that’s one heck of a spin. You must be dizzy.

A response with no substance. typical. bye

Still makes more sense than your word salad.

This doesn’t make any sense because undocumented people are not eligible for most government services. Certainly not Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, SNIP, ACA subsidies, Social Security, etc.

So you don’t want to extend benefits to citizens...out of spite?

In some states illegal immigrants do get medicaid. Pregnant women also get WIC regardless of immigration status. Once they have children, they apply for benefits on their behalf. Emergency Rooms are already being used as doctors offices by the illegal immigrant population.

Again, the vast majority of government services are unavailable to undocumented people. You wouldn’t want to extend services to support our families because maybe some tiny % of those services would be abused?

So rather than risk having a tiny % of abuse you prefer to have nothing - zero benefits for any citizens. Sounds like spite to me.

I dont prefer having nothing. I prefer having all those programs for citizens only (not legal residents). But no, I dont think others will go for it without first ensuring that it wont be used for anyone who steps foot here.

So you think if people were educated to understand that most services today - and most services in the future - do not go towards undocumented people (and maybe even legal immigrants?), then they’d support these programs?

Some services do go illegal immigrants. And with democrats in control I doubt they would pass any new entitlements without including illegal immigrants. They have shifted so far to the left that the extreme wing of the party would never allow them to put forth legilastion that leaves out illegal immigrants. They would MAYBE exclude illegal immigrant felons. Maybe.

So you won’t support these services because you have hunch that they might include undocumented people. And legal immigrants.

Such a big crisis that Trump spent all weekend in LA at GOP fundraisers.

There is a crisis at our southern border for sure. I mean, look, listen and think. The bigger picture is how are individual states, counties and cities going to deal with the influx? We're so over-taxed here already in Northern Virginia. Our schools are full where I live and we're struggling to build new. Many are 7 to 8 decades old. We've always had local high taxes here. It's straining people.

you're racist if you say that.

Or that an influx of non-english speaking children with possible emotional distress and no support system will lower the quality of your school.

Yes, it is. Just because they don't show it on TV, it really is happening.

re: refugees and asylees - But how are we coding those entering if they're escaping brutal conditions?

Refugees and asylees are eligible for all welfare benefits for the first seven years they reside in the U.S., after which their eligibility is greatly reduced.

https://www.brookings.edu/research/welfare-benefits-for-non-citizens/
Welfare Benefits for Non-Citizens

written in 2002 - still the case?
If so, 7 years is still a long time.

This is new to me, too.
https://www.acf.hhs.gov/orr/programs/cma/about

The Cash and Medical Assistance (CMA) Program is part of the Division of Refugee Assistance. CMA reimburses states for 100 percent of services provided to refugees and other eligible persons, as well as associated administrative costs. Programs eligible for reimbursement include:

Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA)
Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA)
Unaccompanied Refugee Minors

And you're also a racist when you move to an outer burb b/c the schools are under control and still community-run.
