Me too -- and I'm glad for it. His character was already pissing me off because so many of his Grand Gestures are controlling and put himself in the center of everything. Nicky finally puts himself beyond being "saved" by Jack, and so Jack just gives up on him. Jack just doesn't know how to be close to flawed people whom he can't fix. I'm glad the show is stopping making him look like a eprfect hero.

Agreed. And what happens with Nicky helps to explain Jack’s battle with alcohol. He still carried the guilt of breaking ties with Nicky. I’m not positive of the timeline but it seems Jack started drinking around the last time he saw Nicky.

Nope. When he saw Nickey, he told Nicky he no longer drank when offered a beer. That’s why Jack was drinking hot chocolate. Jack’s battle with alcohol was because addiction was in his dna. His brother was an addict. His father was an addict and, his grandfather was an addict.

Jack had a drinking problem before when the kids were younger and had stopped drinking for years. I think the Nicky visit led to his relapse, just like Kevin is relapsing.

I didn't pay attention as carefully as I should have last night, but where did it show that Kevin is relapsing?

Chugging booze from a bottle in Nicky’s trailer at the end of the episode.

How did nobody notice he was drunk/tipsy? After all that time sober, it was bound to affect him. Are we to presume that he got
in the car and drove himself home after that? Or did he hang around Nicky's trailer until he sobered up. I thought it was an odd time for him to fall off the wagon vs. when Nicky was drinking beer in front of him when they were fixing the ceiling.

Oh ... Maybe Kevin "had* been drinking before fixing the ceiling. That might explain his amnesia when his uncle asked about whether he had done house repairs before. Hey writers, remember that time when Kevin and Randall rehabbed that slummy apartment building in one day?

Yep - that is not Pittsburgh weather in February but I will give them credit for having little Kevin wait in line to see John Smiley before he was traded to the Minnesota Twins. That checks out.

That’s just it — TIU works hard to get story lines to mesh perefectly (the Super Bowls and other specific football games) and then gives up when it comes to something easy and obvious like Pittsburgh does not have the same weather as LA.

Can’t believe I am saying this but the show turned into a snooze fest. What I like is how they dress Mandy Moore as an older Rebecca. I want to dress like her when I grow old.

^^That’s a perfect example. An entire show parallels a famous football play but then set at an outdoor carnival in Pittsburgh on December 23rd — which would never happen, again because of the weather.
