With Love, Meghan on Netflix

They seemed like actual friends/people who get along and have history, even though they are probably not super close.

She is best when she is talking about actual topics rather than talking about her feelings or various dime-story philosophies.

Watched the second episode with Mindy. I am not a fancy party person (all my kids’ parties have been run-around-the-backyard types) so I definitely fast-forwarded some of the twee parts like the balloon arch and gift bags. But I loved the rainbow fruit salad!! Yes yes it’s probably on TikTok but some of us don’t go on TikTok so it’s new for us but crazy cute and simple.

There were some frenemy-ish sounding moments like when Meghan kept referring to “my husband” instead of causally calling him “Harry” but whatever, everyone has those moments. Overall it was okay but Mindy was definitely the one bringing the energy and trying to make the conversation flow. I’m guessing she did it as a favor to Netflix.

Third episode with Roy Choi was great!! It helped that the food looked *amazing*. But also, even though they had never met each other before, they had that shared history of being LA kids and seemed to genuinely get along well. It’s too bad she doesn’t have more friends like that.

Also, I can’t believe people are comparing this to the Pam Anderson show?? I saw a couple of clips on YouTube and it looked boring as hell. She just watches her guest do things silently, and clearly has no experience in the kitchen.

I don't know why you think we should uplift someone who ridicules their friends and family on TV.

Never heard her ridicule her family. She called them out for bad behavior, like telling her to get on with it while she was suicidal and pregnant.

I really don’t care that she said curtsying is like going to Medieval Times. Do you?

It was a pretty rude thing to say about meeting your future 90 something year old grandmother-in-law. And Harry looked very uncomfortable bc it WAS uncomfortable. And the way sue addressed Mindy isn't how I would speak to my friend, in public or private. But that's fine if you act like that, just expect it to raise eyebrows.

It was not uncomfortable at all. She said the Queen was lovely but that curtsying was weird to her. If that makes you uncomfortable you need to toughen up and get a thicker skin.

I would absolutely be fine joking around with a friend. I’m sorry that you don’t seem to get along with other women so you don’t get female friendships as like an overarching. Maybe you should take a cue from Hillaria and go to a yoga class to make some friends there?

New poster. I have just been mindlessly reading this thread and laughing at some of the witty comments. But your post made me stop. You are taking things way too personally. Nobody who saw the clip, whether they like Meghan or not, thought she was joking. She absolutely was not. Now I think you need to go touch grass, PP. Meghan doesn’t know you or need you to insult a bunch of randoms on this thread in her honor.

Alright, drama queen. Mindy was on The View this morning saying it was a joke and she loves Meghan, so maybe chill the f out.

How was it a joke? I don't think Meghan was joking but maybe Mindy was. Meghan seemed pretty earnest about how special it was to share a last name with her kids.

Meghan wasn't joking and that whole scene was over the top.

DP. Two things:

1. Mindy Kaling thinks Meghan was joking
2. If this is the post that made you stop, you have a weird threshold for being shocked.

Mindy was on The View to promote one of her own projects so she answered blandly and tried to move on. PR 101. It was the hosts of The View who were trying to get her to engage on the topic. Mindy seemed disinterested.

+1 Mindy has an empire and she's a businesswoman/PR focused. She was willing to do the show but her #1 is her own brand and promoting HER new projects.

OK, I am not a Meghan basher at all but was just on reels and it showed me the “My name is Sussex now”and it was completely cringe.

And Mindy kind of looked shocked.

And Meghan droning on about her reasons… I don’t know something about it was just really offputting to me. Did the editors hate her? Why in the hell would they keep that in? It was an awkward moment and it made Meghan look preachy as hell.

At one point in a later episode, she mentions her mom making gumbo and soul food, but that’s about it.

My sense is that she doesn’t particularly identify as African-American. Never really has.

To each their own.

For all those saying she should shed light on charities instead, literally she gets lambasted every time she shows up at anything charitable too — e.g. the vast criticism of her showing up to support LA wildfire victims, Uvalde, etc. It doesn’t matter, nothing she does will please people.

This. She literally cannot win. She went to Uvalde and was criticized. A couple of the mothers she visited said that it wasn't a photo op, they text with her often, she remembers their kids' bdays and the anniversary of their death and texts them then...but people still say she's fake. She went to that charity for teen girls who lost everything in the fire and was criticized. The girl who started it said Meghan was lovely and kind and spent more time with her than any other celebrity or politician and went out of her way to help...but people still say she's fake.

Hell, someone posted up thread that Mindy Kaling said the "It's Sussex" bit wasn't offensive and she is still friends with Meghan and none of the people claiming "Mindy wore a revenge dress" have addressed that. How many people have to tell you Meghan is nice and that they like her before you believe them? What would be their reasoning to lie? Meghan and Harry are barely scraping by in the entertainment biz themselves, it's not like these celebrities are being nice to them for jobs.

You know, I used to be a Meghan hater too, but you know when I realized you all lost the plot? Coronation weekend. They repeatedly went online saying Meghan shouldn't go to the Coronation because it would take attention from Charles. So she didn't...AND THEN THE SAME PEOPLE SAID SHE SNUBBED CHARLES. That was when I realized she truly can't win and it became obvious what a massive hate campaign all of this has become. I'm not saying she's perfect or that it's racist to dislike her but I think a lot of you need to get a grip. She's pretentious and out of touch. She doesn't rape teenagers or collude with Nazis...those would be various members of the royal family. I really don't care if a rich lady tells me to find joy in flower sprinkles.

She is a smear of shit for her Uvalde stunt.

Meghan Markle is broadly reviled. The criticisms cannot all be from racists or monarchists. And she can’t cook or dress worth a good goddamn, even when shown in the best most controlled environment. But I’m sure the next next show will turn it all around.

Did you read my post at all before you quoted it? Because you are making my point for me.

To your point about Uvalde:

How many people from Uvalde have to tell you she was authentic before you'll stop referring to MM as a "smear of shit"? Or do victims' voices only count if they agree with you?

Agree

PP did not address your points at all and reiterated the same old prejudices.

If the Uvalde folks felt that she was sincere why do the critics want to savage her?

They addressed it. They claimed that the father of a dead child was a "famewhore cousin" willing to "fanwank" for Meghan and Harry.

That tells you all you need to know about them. Imagine saying that earnestly about the father of a 10 year old who was slaughtered in their classroom, just because you don't like a famous lady who was nice to his wife. It's a sign of mental illness, really.

Um-hm. “Hey look at me holding the birthday cake for an Uvalde family!!! I will sing the most touching rendition, my face will beam gently, radiating healing vibes to the survivors!”

On topic, was that cake “pretty on the inside” like her masterpiece with her BFF makeup artist?

Are people genuinely confused about the uniformly terrible reviews?

The problem with this whole endeavor is that Meghan and Harry were handed $100 million to produce content when neither has a compelling resume or track record of producing content. And it now shows. The content is boring and not compelling. I don't blame Harry and Meghan for taking the money, most people would have. I blame Netflix and others for giving out these contracts to people who didn't earn them.

She is the type of woman who is a super perfectionist but wants to seem down to earth so she hides the perfectionism. I’m sure she wants to help people, and I dont’ think she is inherently bad, but her attempts to live a perfect life in a curated world are meaningless because she is always adding a sheen of messy, curated perfection (perfectly ripped designer jeans, messy hair that falls just right etc) to her world instead of dealing with reality.

How on Earth is that woman making you feel anything, let alone badly about yourself? The show is a showcase of her stilted try-hard incompetence and that messy hair, grown a continent away on several other young women, doesn’t even lay right let alone fall right.

Right. Meghan had to produce some kind of product and this is what she came up with. It’s a little shocking. It’s all half-assed execution giving dim bulb host, with flower sprinkles. Roy Choi is fantastic but he’s not around to save her from herself.

I’m super fascinated by the money in that marriage. There is nothing to suggest Harry can wipe his own ass or iron a shirt, let alone develop content or effectively run a non-profit. Invictus is a Wounded Warrior rip-off, it’s not held annually, it’s clear he and his scammy bride bill their own significant hotel and security and Fashions! to the charity, and the seed money came from the BRF, with $1 million from evil evil William. Spare sold because he had some whiny gossip to sling. The Netflix content did not do well unless it involved crybaby antics about the monarchy - Polo, Heart of Invictus, this mess. Harry’s life was built on a base of money in terms of housing, security, education, food, social events, entertainment, travel, and he got a low 7 figure allowance annually for making appearances and being jolly before he’d get drunk and hit hooker allegedly allegedly and let his bad feelings for his more stable brother fester.

This is it? This and As Ever is gonna pay for 16 bathrooms and security for two so white they’re blue kids under constant threat from armed racists? Okay.

MM makes it really hard to like her, even if you are trying. And my guess is that the editors didn't have much to work with, but also yes, a distinct possibility they hate her dislike her as well.

They are just grifters. Or at least grifter adjacent. Netflix made a very high stakes bet on them and it's proving to be a loss.

She’s not worse than many, many celebrities out there. This is a normal thread in the entertainment section. People are not unhinged or hate Meghan just because they don't like this show.
